When I was little, we lived in a small wooden house in the middle of a forest. My sister and I
used to go out every morning to gather wood for the fire. We didn’t mind because it kept the
house very hot. In the house we live in now, our bedrooms are upstairs, but the house in the
forest was different. All the rooms were on one floor. My parents and my sister and I slept in
two rooms next to the kitchen. I also remember that there weren’t any carpets on the tile floor,
so we always wore socks and slippers to keep our feet warm. I loved coming home from the
village school, because our dog, Max, used to sit waiting for me by the front door. One day, a
tile fell off the roof and nearly hit him. After that, he used to meet me in the forest.
