Matt and Grace are talking about phobias.

Matt Hi, Grace! Are you ready for the summer camp tomorrow?

Grace Not really. I’m afraid of climbing the mountain.

Matt Oh, are you scared of heights?

Grace Yes, I am. I have a phobia. I am afraid of heights. On top of that, it will be my first time
climbing a mountain.

Matt Don’t worry, it’s not that scary unless you look down. I’ll be with you at all times.

Grace Thank you, Matt. But I’m not sure I can do it. By the way, do you have any phobias?

Matt I had a fear of small spaces when I was a child. I’m okay now, though.

Grace I see. How did you overcome it?

Matt I would practice sitting in small spaces and before I knew it, I got used to it.

Grace I hope I will overcome my phobia someday.

It was Paul's first time in London, so Carol took him sightseeing. She took him to

see many places, including Big Ben. Carol asked him if he wanted to climb to

the top, but Paul refused. He said he was not afraid of heights, but of small,

confined spaces, such as elevators. Carol said she understood because she

used to be afraid of spiders, but had overcome her fear by facing it.
