TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY

a. Preparation
Good morning Grade 5!
Good morning, ma’am!
Before we start let us all pray. ____,
lead us in a simple prayer.
(The class is praying.)
Before sitting, make sure that there
are no trashes around, or under
your seat.
(The children tidied up their seat.)

You may now take your seat.

Are you familiar with this photo?
You may now take your seat.

Are you familiar with this photo?

Yes, ma’am. That is Mobile Legends.

Correct! How about this one?

Right! I can see you are familiar

with those. How about this last
photo.

That is the corona virus ma’am.

Correct! Later on, I will be asking
your opinions about these photos.

b. Presentation
Are you aware of the issues
happening in our country?

Some, ma’am.
Can you give me some examples?
The issue about corona virus,
ma’am.

Yes, what more?

The issue about the dispute in the
West Philippine Sea, ma’am.
Correct! Maybe you know a lot in a
digital world of social media, online/
video gaming, and trending news or
hit songs on radio and television.
Were you able to agree or disagree
with those issues? I want you all later
to share about your opinions
regarding some issues in our country.
But before that I want you to read
this paragraph and let us make an
outline about the paragraph.
Everyone will read aloud.

Three Pests
(The pupils are reading.)

Did you understand what you have

read? Yes, ma’am.

That’s good. Now, make a topic

outline by filling in the details.
Complete the outline in your
notebook.

Very good! I will be checking it
afterwards.

c. Discussion
Have you ever been tried to
express and share your opinions to
others?
Yes, ma’am.

How do you feel when you are able

to share what you believe on or
opinion and being heard?
Good, ma’am.

Right! How about when you share

but no one listens?
I feel sad, ma’am.

Yes, that’s true. Every one of us has

a something to say about a certain
thing. We may agree to it or
disagree. We may believe it or not.
We call it as stand. Our stand is our
way of seeing a certain situation,
our viewpoint, opinion or position to
that thing. These stands are
sometimes influenced by how we
treat and accept things. For
example, look at this photo,

What can you say about this child?

The child is reading books.

Yes, that is correct. Is reading books

good?
Yes, ma’am.

That is true. How about this one?

What do you see?

Those children are playing through

their tablet.

Correct! And it can also be that

these two children are having
interactive study through their
tablet. Now, which material do you
prefer to use while studying? Books
or a tablet?
For me it is better to use book,
ma’am.
Why?
It is because when you use tablet,
you may be tempted to play games
instead of doing your lesson.
Yes, you have a point. How about
the others?
Ma’am, I prefer tablet.
And what is your reason regarding
that?

I prefer tablet because through it

and internet, I have an unlimited
access about the things I wanted to
know just click search in google and
I may have it. A simple book is
sometimes limited.
Your idea is also valid. Whatever is
more effective material to be used
in studying is dependent to your
own opinion, point-of-view or your
own stand. There is no wrong stand
as long as it will really benefit you
and will not harm other people.
That is your stand and you need to
live with it as a foundation of your
principles.

Let us take a look on this another

picture.
What are these two children
doing?
They are playing, ma’am.
Yes, correct. Since everyone or
most of us are engaging to online
games or even to offline games
that are found or installed in our
phones, I want you read an article
that is about the picture I showed
you. Read it silently and understand
what it is saying then we will do the
activity after.
Online Gaming Addiction
(The children are reading.)
Are you through?
Yes, ma’am.
Very good1 I believe that you did
understand well what the article is
all about and what it wants to tell
you.
Let us do the activity given from the
one you’ve read.
Activity A.
Read the following sentences below. Rate if you
agree or disagree with each sentence below by
placing a check mark in the appropriate column. Do
it in your notebook.

violent when they’re

3. There is a possibility to become
addicted to online games at some
others. _______ ________

children’s bad eating habits. _______ ________
5. This is a very big problem and common

Are you done?

Yes, ma’am.
Now, let us do our second activity.
Activity B.
Complete the statement below by stating your
opinion about online gaming. Check Yes or No and
state your opinion. Write in one or two complete
sentences.
Is online game a problem and a concern on
most families? Is there a possibility that a player
becomes addicted to online games?
Yes No, because

Yes, because children are no longer focusing on their

studies and can no longer help their parents to do
household chores because they focus too much in
playing.

Are you done?

Yes, ma’am.

Taking a stand means to voice your

opinion on issues that are
happening. To make a stand is to
determine effort to agree or
disagree, to defend something
and to oppose or commend
something.
Here are the tips on how you can
make a stand.
1. Look at your own experiences.
2. Collect information about the
topic. Always base your opinion on
facts.
3. Know what is right and wrong.
Always be on the right side.
4. Narrate your opinion properly by
stating all your reasons.

The key is to completely believe in

the topic. If you do not believe
what you are telling, you cannot
convince the listener or the reader.
Remember the formula:
Information + personal
experiences = your stand

d. Generalization
Whatever you’ve put mark on, I
want you to know that there is no
wrong answer. You know why? It is
because that is what you believe
on. That is your stand. As long as
you know that it makes you feel at
peace and you are not hurting
other people. Always remember,
whatever you do you are
responsible and accountable to it.
Is that understandable?
Yes, ma’am.

So, what will you do with those

pieces of cents hidden on your
minds? What I mean to say is, what
will you do when you think you
know something or you think you
need to share something?
We need to be confident in telling
what is on our mind.
And ow about to the opinion or
stand of others? What are we
going to do?
We need to respect them, ma’am.
Correct! And of course, we need to
learn to measure them if they are
right or wrong. Our basis should be
our morality (which is from God)
and our law (which is from our
government). Do you understand?

Right!
e. Application
Let us have another activity.
Activity 1

Read some of the controversial issues below.

Write the sentences you agree with in the first
column and write the sentences you do not
agree with in the second column.

trouble.

to agricultural
regions.

This time, I will call you one by one. I

want you to share your opinions.
Acitivity 2.
Choose one issue presented below. On a one
whole sheet of paper, state your stand
regarding your chosen issue in a paragraph
form (1-3 sentences). Be guided with the
rubrics below for your rating.
1. August should be the opening of the school
year.
2. Global warming causes intense storms that
bring heavy rains to agricultural regions.
3. Filipinos are kind and hospitable.
4. It is good to have competition inside the
room.
5. Cellphones and other gadgets are useful to
all kinds of learners
For me, it is not good to have competition
inside the classroom because it encourages
pressure inside the classroom. Two people who
has potentials to be good friends may have
faction or gap because of the ambiance of
rivalry. It is better that classmates help each
other to do tasks and finish them with high
achievements together.
You have good stands children and
you are all very bright! I want you to
take care of your hearts and minds as
you build your own stands.
