1. In order to test the effictiveness of a training programme to improve students’
knowledge on computer skill, data on knowledge level were collected both before and
after the training programme. Data on knowledge score are as follows:-

Pre-score 4 5 3 4 6 3 2 5 4 3
Post score 8 6 5 7 9 6 5 6 6 7

a. State the appropriate null and alternative hypothesis (2 %).

b. Test the hypothesis that the knowledge score before and after training
is significantly different at 0.05 level of significance (15%).
c. State your conclusion (3%).
[20%]

2. The following set of data showing the distribution of student academic performance
by their place of origin. Academic performance is categorized into low, moderate and
high.

Place of Academic Performance Total

confidence

a. State the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis (2%)

b. Calculate the chi-square value (12%)
c. State your decision and conclusion (6%)
[20%]
