Ramanujan prize 2021
• Established in 2005, it is administered jointly by the
• Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP),
Trieste, Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government
of India (GoI), and the International Mathematical Union (IMU).
• It is given annually to an eminent Mathematician who is less than
45 years of age and has conducted outstanding research in
developing countries.

Health. It was 1st launched in
October 2019.
Global health survey index 2021
• As per the Global Health Security (GHS) Index 2021, the world’s
average overall GHS Index score was reduced to 38.9 (out of 100) in
2021, from a score of 40.2 in the GHS Index, 2019
• India ranked 66 out of 195 countries with an overall Index score of

42.8 and along with a change of -0.8 from 2019

• Amid COVID-19, the Central Government launched ABRY to
incentivise employment generation in EPFO registered
establishments for a period from October 1, 2020 to March 31,
2022.
• Under the ABRY, the government is paying both employees’
and employers’ contributions of 24% of wages (12% of wages for
each) in respect of establishments having 1,000 employees and
employees’ contribution of 12% of wages to establishments
employing more than 1,000 employees.

World malaria report-2020

• Globally, malaria case incidence (i.e. cases per 1000 population at risk)
reduced from 81 in 2000 to 59 in 2015 and 56 in 2019, before increasing
again to 59 in 2020 (due to COVID-19).
• Globally, India accounts for 1.7 percent of malaria deaths in 2020. As per the
report, India was the only highburden country to have sustained a reduction
in the disease burden

Saryu Nahar National Project
• The 40-year long pending project, Saryu Nahar
National Project, was inaugurated by Prime
Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi in
Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh (UP) on December

interlinking of five rivers viz. Ghaghara, Saryu,
Rapti, Banganga and Rohini to ensure
optimum usage of water resources of the
