Please read this entire document before installing this emergency fix
release.
This emergency fix release contains only the software changes necessary
to deliver a short-term solution for a blocking field problem. When the
fix becomes available in a regular maintenance release, the customer
should move as soon as possible to this maintenance release.
This release note only refers to the changes included in this emergency
fix release. For information on:

1 Content of the Emergency Fix Release

1.1 Release R4.2.05e Corrections

 ALU01781051 : NVLT-C rfss sock reset because failed to alloc vbuf

during LT file transfer
Problem: Socket reset with non-recoverable error, after several re-
tries returning recoverable errors for up to 5 minutes, when
trying to allocate buffer from memory management when
“tftp get file” from LT to external server. This was
observed for file size greater than 1500 bytes.
 ALU01781884 : Secure forwarding + VMAC: ARP request is dropped
Problem: ARP requests were dropped after watching a few hours of
video (this can be up to 12 hours), with Secure forwarding
and VMAC translation enabled. Traces revealed that the
LT drops the ARP request because of a wrong VMAC
translation. The condition recovers after sometime, when
the PC sets up a new DHCP connection.
 ALU01792079 : NELT-A fail to allocate ixp buffer for internal
communication and igmp packet
Problem: No inventory information was found in the NELT-A board
and was recovered after a warm reset.
NELT-A boards reported failure with unknown-board,
unknown-error. Problem discovered as NT-LT
communication failure.
 ALU01799844 : IOP problem between Cisco877-m / Cisco1801-m in
Annex M mode and R4.2.04b
Problem: After moving from 3.6.04 to 4.2.04b, some instability
issues were experienced with the ADSL lines with
Cisco877-m and Cisco1801-m CPE's running in Annex M
mode.
 ALU01808663 : No Duplicate Mac Alarm on NANT-A in subtended
configuration
Problem: DupMAC Alarm was only shown in Lanx CLI, while the
Ethernet Link up alarm was retrieved on both CLI and
TL1
 ALU01816142 : Problem with pre-paid card calls
Problem: Calls from subscriber on ISAM using pre-paid cards
(smartalk) are dropped.
 ALU01821753 : CLIP does not work on NPOT-C in H248

Problem: CLIP does not work on POTS lines configured on NPOT-

C in H248 mode in certain conditions.
 ALU01822220 : SIP Register failure in some specific cases in R42
Problem: In R42, SIP MD5 register will fail when changing the
password longer than 20 characters.
 ALU01822392 : NELT-A in extended LT slot 1/1/18 is running but reports
alarm type mismatch
Problem: Board presence notifications were sent at LT insertion,
when this should have been ignored.
During NT boot-up, the Board presence bitmap was being
checked, that would also generate the alarm.
 ALU01823843 : NELT-A board does not recover automatically from a
presence reset
Problem: NELT-A board did not recover automatically from a
presence reset. Operator controlled reset was required to
recover.
 ALU01823987 : After migration from 41.602 to 42.629, NT reset after
typing the command "info c"
Problem: After migration to R4.2.05a there may be a problem when
using the CLI auto-completion mode by entering "info c"
followed by a space character to let the CLI complete the
command.
This was the result of a memory corruption caused by
another SW application.
 ALU01826577 : IPv6 license check on bridge ports with Vlans secure
forwarding enabled and protocol filter pass-all
Problem: The nodes were migrated from release 4.1.04f to 4.2.05a.
Protocol filter was found to trigger a license check for
default value “Pass all”, resulting in AMS alarm that IPv6
license is invalid. This happened only for VLANs enabled
for Secure forwarding.
 ALU01826663 : No downstream traffic on NALT-J low rate lines for
CPEs having TI modem chipset
Problem: After an upgrade from R4.2.04b (42.545) to R4.2.05c
(42.646), it was not possible anymore to pass traffic (or to
start a successful F5 OAM e2e loopback test) on a NALT-
J ADSL2+ line having certain CPEs connected - in case
the line is configured with an xDSL service profile with a
low max-bitrate-down/up (e.g. 2048/512).
The line however successfully reached showtime (g992-5-
a). The problem however could be solved by increasing
max-bitrate-down/up (e.g. 6400/640) or by moving the line
to a NALT-C (same xDSL service profile).
 ALU01827190 :QOS NT offline migration from 3.7.05g to 4.3.02d fails :
schProf 0 in QosDsl

Problem: Default Scheduler profile index was different in the

migration code from the NT. This problem occurs when
the migration from R4.1 to R4.2 is being executed by the
offline migration tool.
 ALU01827273 :NRNT-A ICS04 OFLT T 2 1 4 production problem
Problem: A new version of the Offline Test SW is included on the
NRNT-A, used during the production of NRTN-A boards

 ALU01827275 :Issues with proprietary ARQ (Phy-R) on NVLT-N

Problem: PHY-R was not enabled in the NVLT-N AB variant
boards. This change was the result of support for the new
DSP variant used on the board.
 ALU01827277 : NVLT-N OFLT
Problem: Updates to the DSL tests of the NVLT-P/Q/N, NVLS-A
and NDLT-C boards. This change was the result of
support for the new DSP variant used on the board.
 ALU01828172 : xdsl-line alarm severity changed from default to no-value
after migration to R4.2.05a
Problem: After the migration from R4.1.04f (41.604) to R4.2.05a
(42.629), the xdsl-line alarm severity for all xdsl line
interfaces had been set wrongly to "no-value" instead of
"default" and all xdsl alarms were reported on AMS.
 ALU01828526 :STS0 task hanging, 42.477 fastmib upload transfer timed
out
Problem: ISAM reports TFTP error when Network Analyzer
attempted a bulk collection. FastMib upload not working
even with default database.
 ALU01828638 : V34 modem transmission degraded on NPOT-C in H248
Problem: The modem transmission in V34 mode on NPOT-C is
degraded as ISAM-V cannot switch to VBD.
 ALU01830430 : NVLT-C resets due to EQCT Restart board via meta-
channel
Problem: After migration from R3.7.05h (37.653) to R4.2.03e
(42.493), a large number of NVLT-C resets via
metachannel.
 ALU01832907 : NPOT-C reboot after NT switchover
Problem: NPOT-C will wrongly reboot during NT switchover.
 ALU01833272 : No ringing with CLIP on NPOT-B
Problem: No ringing with CLIP on NPOT-B due to CLIP dtmf
message is multiply data format.
 ALU01833877 : After NE-reboot the Operator-profile is changed
Problem: After NE reboot, the prompt from the profile is directly
inserted into the operator-config, which was not expected.

received at a port in blocking state.

Problem: After migrating the nodes from 3.7.01a to release 4.1.00d
(41.093), all the -no psd # default = 0- values were
converted into-psd 255- and caused the AMS to fail
deploying the spectrum profile with an error message ”
XDSL MGT error 109..”
 ALU01838687 : PBMT migration fails with SNMPv3 in no authentication
and no privacy mode.
Problem: NE did not support PBMT migration with SNMPv3 in no
auth and no Privacy mode.
 ALU01838743 :After 2 LT-NT consecutive communication resets
NELT_A board went to init boot failed state
Problem: After 2 LT-NT consecutive communication-resets
NELT_A board went to init boot failed state

 ALU01839307 : Traffic drop and MAC learning problem after

disconnecting wire-pair followed by LT reboot in 4W
EFM
Problem: In build 42.629 (4.2.05a), some SHDSL segments
remained in either initialization or idle state. They did not
become active. No MAC learning happened on the bridge
port configured over the span and the port was in a
blocking state.

1.2 Release R4.2.05d Corrections

Following fixes have been included in R4.2.05d:

 ALU01797455 : Inconsistent behavior on show port Ethernet counters for

xfp ports
Problem: Application was not configuring oversize threshold
correctly on Broadcom physical ports.

 ALU01814811: IGMP malfunction at NVLT-G

Problem: The issue is relevant image freezing on IPTV service and
this situation appears especially after lots of join and leave
to channels.

 ALU01816213: shub port number display on AMS NOK

Problem: Shub port numbering is NOK on AMS. It doesn't match as

it was before in previous deployment

 ALU01816853: TL1GW command ACT-USER failure: Status, All

Resources Busy
Problem: If customer does not wait for 5 seconds to run ACT-
USER command they get Status, All Resources Busy
errors.

 ALU01819781: Migration failed with Stray Handler 11 error message

Problem: NT DB offline migration stray signal failure corrected

 ALU01386208: Incoming call does not work as re-invite with

authentication doesn't contain SDP
Problem: ISAM incoming calls will drop after 270s because re-
invite with authentication doesn't contain SDP.

 ALU01812002: Sip register failed due to bad MD5 response in R4.2

Problem: After migrating to R4.2, in some case, SIP users may not
be registered to the server due to MD5 response is wrongly
handled by ISAM-V.

1.3 Release R4.2.05c Corrections

Following fixes have been included in R4.2.05c:

 ALU01807245: Possible deadlock when switching from MGC1 to MGC2

Problem: When switching from MGC1 to MGC2, in case MGC2
refuses the attempt with error code 402 (Unauthorized
service change), ISAM-V will keep on attempting to reach
MGC2 but never try MGC1 any longer.

 ALU01808446: P-Preferred-Id header is not sent in Hotline call setup

Problem: The INVITE message for hotline call does not contain the
P-Preferred-Identity header while the basic call does.
 ALU01804757 : PTM Bonding NOK after attaching the bonding group-
profile
Bonding lines are not coming up when bonding group-profile
is associated to the group. Though, the 2 lines come up
individually before associating the profile.

 ALU01795934 : NANT-A DB standby NT not coming up

When inserting a factory NANT-A besides a DB NANT-A

variant running R4.2.05, the standby never comes
operational because syncing the Software to the standby
fails. It seems that the factory Software image and the
NANT-A Software image together with an NPOT-C and a
DSL board is too big to fit on the Software partition.
 ALU01808633: On NELT-B in upstream direction, different behaviour
depending on port number for cross-connect vlan

1.4 Release R4.2.05b Corrections

Following fixes have been included in R4.2.05b:

 ALU01774419: Packet drop on I-010G-A when sending random frame

sizes and AES enabled.
Problem: packet drop can be observed on the I-010G-A when
sending random frame sizes in combination with AES
enabled
 ALU01774427: NGLT-A + NANT-E: DS packet drop on CIG ONT with
iMIX traffic (all Broadlight based ONTs)
 Problem: When the traffic generator is configured in such a way that
iMIX traffic is sent (11,11% with 64 bytes, 55,55% with
594 bytes and 33,33% with 1518 bytes), then up to 2%
packet drop is detected in downstream direction on ONTs
equipped with Broadlight chipset.
 ALU01774428: Raised temporal alarms not cleared when temporal alarm
filter is deleted
 Problem: When a previously created temporal alarm filter is deleted,
then also the currently raised alarms as result of this filter
need to be cleared. This is currently not always the case.
 ALU01748736: 'empty' realm parameter in authentication not
supported.
Problem: ISAMV should be able to take realm value from 401 or
407 SIP challenge messages sent out from SoftSwitch if
md5-realm value is left as empty.
 ALU01758493: Issue with modification of the Media Gateway
Interface (MGI) IP address
Problem: After locking the MGI, the first attempt to modify the MGI
IP address will always fail, while the second attempt will
succeed.

 ALU01778861: Wrong call status 'idle-offhook' after running 'all' line

testing from NA 5530
Problem: After doing line test from Network Analyzer (5530 NA)
using default template ‘All’, the call status of sip
termination will be wrongly set to 'idle-offhook'. Issue will
not happen when doing each test or test group separately
one by one.
 ALU01779835: Some values in request line of the INVITE are different
between basic call and hotline
Problem: Some values in request line are different between basic
call and hotline call: 1>The basic call contains
"user=phone" in the request line of the INVITE while the
hotline does not; 2>The basic call does not contain the SIP
port number (5060) in the request line while the hotline
does.
 ALU01786916: No ringback tone if ordered via ephemeral and CLIP
on terminating line
Problem: Ringback tone can not be heard when it is ordered via the
terminating ephemeral in combination with CLIP on that
line.
 ALU01788678: Port Temperature threshold alarm reported after
ground key alarm is raised
Problem: After ground key alarm is raised, the port still continues to
report Temperature threshold alarm which is not correct.
 ALU01798117: Call waiting can not be disabled although CDE
configured Callwaiting off
Problem: After loading CDE with Callwating off, the callwaiting
function can not be disabled as expected.
 ALU01805346/ ALU01805350 : Unable to upgrade from
4205a(4205.626) to 4205b(4205.638) starting from
ICS05 NANT-E (code part/Binary part)
Problem: On NANT-E, it is not possible to perform a SW upgrade
from R4.2.05 or R4.2.05a to the R4.2.05b Code and binary
part is delivered to fix the problem
 ALU01759161: NRNT-A in 7356 comes up with CLEAN_DATA after
reset with selftest
Problem: When the NRNT-A is restarted with selftest consecutively
it may happen that the NT loses its database. This is
caused by a problem in the selftest software, there is no
hardware problem
 ALU01789695: NRNT-A hangs when RST PCI-E IRQ is detected
Problem: On the NRNT-A, there is a problem where the NT board
hangs during init.
 ALU01780915: PPPoE fails for EFM customer using low bandwidth on
NVLT-N

Problem: PPPoE fails for EFM customer using low bandwidth on

NVLT-N. For ADB CPEs in 1MB bandwidth PPPoE
packets are received in network side but it is not forwarded
to CPE.
 ALU01781466: Modems do not synchronize after upgrading the isam
Problem: Some Sagem VDSL2 Modems do not synchronize after
upgrading the Isam. The issue is an interop problem
between isam Software and cpe firmware. The Issue had
appeared after the isam was upgraded to 4.2.05 from
4.0.0.3a
 ALU01795393: NVLT-P daily presence resets
Problem: NVLT-Ps few boards are having almost daily presence
resets. Problem is reproducible by sending short packets
(of 6 bytes long) upstream via 2 ATM forum CPEs at the
max upstream rate (+/- 1Mbps) and also by sending 5
Mbps up and downstream over an EFM configured DSL
line. After approximately 15 seconds the problem is seen.
This is fixed by new BCM proxy
 ALU01789254: DHCPv6 session timer is not working properly
Problem: DHCPv6 session timer is not working properly.
 ALU01776093: L2 and L3 traffic Standnby NT is not coming up after
swo from NT-B to NT-A in NANT-D system
Problem: L2 and L3 traffic Standnby NT is not coming up after swo
from NT-B to NT-A in NANT-D system.
 ALU01803396: IGMP traffic drop not recovering after switch-over
from NT-A to NT-B
Problem: IGMP traffic drop not recovering after switch-over from
NT-A to NT-B
 ALU01795391: Hanging ISAM issue
Problem: ISAM hangs occasionally because of LT socket issue
which block NT to startup in init phase.
 ALU01795406: Problem:PIMV2 protocol transparency not supported
Problem: Reserved IPv4 address transparency for an S+C cross
connects forwarder on an NNI port (NELT-B). This
problem manifested itself on the NELT-B. Packets with a
reserved IPv4 packet destination IP were not forwarded
transparently over an S+C cross connect forwarder on an
NNI port. They were being discarded. This behaviour was
observed for both upstream and downstream traffic
 ALU01800279: ARP reply packets in DS are corrupted - NSLT-A
Problem: ARP reply packets in downstream are getting corrupted,
the target MAC address becomes 00:00:00_00:00:00.This
happens when vmac and vlan translation and secure
forwarding is used.This problem is impacting customers
who have their own firewalls. In many cases these

firewalls refuse to accept these ARP reply packets and the

forwarding of the IP traffic is stopped.
 ALU01800497/ ALU01800553 : Unable to download R4.2.d when
R4.3.2c is running as active software (binary part/code
part)
Problem: when R4.3.2c is running active, TFTP download of OSWP
R4.2.1d will fail. Binary and code part is changed to fix
the problem
 ALU01801545: NELT-B UNI: show ethernet counters near-end line
current-interval
Problem: Show ethernet counters near-end line current-interval
x/x/x/x detail the "too-long" value goes up as expected, but
it keeps on going, even if we stop the stream, and even if
we remove the SFP on NELT-B
 ALU01800010: Handshake mode in SHDSL-EFM mode is not
migrated correctly
Problem: The parameter efm-handshake-selection is not used (not
applicable) for EFM mode in R4.1.00e. After migration to
R4.2.05a this parameter stays as not applicable but in
SW4.2.05a it is not allowed to set this value as not
applicable normally
 ALU01804339: Alarm led present in the shelf is “ON” when no alarm
in CLI, and “OFF” when actually an alarm in CLI on
NANT-D setup
Problem: Alarm led present in the shelf is “ON” when no alarm in
CLI, and “OFF” when actually an alarm in CLI on NANT-
D setup
 ALU01778283: last-chg-opr-stat not always correct when ATM
interface status is changed by operator
Problem: last-chg-opr-stat is not reset to zero when operational state
of atm interface is changed. And this value starts from 496
or 497 and it is not even increasing properly from the
beginning number..
 ALU01805402: VDSL PTM Bonding NOK after associating the
bonding group-profile
Problem: VDSL PTM Bonding NOK after associating the bonding
group-profile from R4.2.05b release. This fix is correction
of init value of a Layer 1 module.

1.5 Release R4.2.05a Corrections

Following fixes have been included in R4.2.05a:

 ALU01758220: NVLT-G not coming up after migration to R4.2.03e.

Problem: It is seen that a small amount of NVLT-G boards is not

coming up after the migration.

 ALU01765161: Protocol-Filter is not always working.

Problem: In case of SC-VLAN’s the protocol-filter (no protocol-
filter, pass-pppoe) is not always working.

 ALU01767974: NRNT-A snmpwalk for CPU load not working.

Problem: snmpwalk or snmpgetnext of .1.3.6.1.4.1.637.61.1.9.29.1
and following OIDs is not working on NRNT-A.

 ALU01760626: When using UPBO the US2 mask might be violated in

case of a bridge tap at customer side.
Problem: When using UPBO the US2 mask might be violated in
case of a bridge tap at customer side. With R4.2.05a (BCM
proxy V10.30.2) this issue can be addressed by setting the
propr-feat-value 2147482622 in ALL the different sections
of the spectrum profile i.e. in adsl-adsl2, re-adsl, adsl2-
plus, vdsl, vdsl2. If the propr-feat-value is not set the
behaviour will be the same as before.

 ALU01771050: BFMU : Error records seen when frequent TFTP

put/get operations of BFMU config File happened.
Problem: Error records are observed when frequent TFTP put/get
operations of the BFMU config File happen. The TFTP
put/get operations are executed via 4 to 5 TFTP clients in
parallel.

 ALU01765290: Peer-oam-info is not present on NELT-B ports.

Problem: It is not possible to retrieve peer-oam-info from a media
converter connected to a NELT-B port. This is no problem
on NELT-A.

 ALU01772037: bonding-link status always returns 0.

Problem: When using SDC to retrieve the link status of the bonding-
link, SDC uses RFMU or BFMU to retrieve this info from
ISAM. It is seen that the reported value in SDC is always
0, while a value between 1 and 4 is expected.

 ALU01782360: IPTV not working due to misalignment between SW

and HW MAC table on LT.
Problem: IPTV service for some customers on a specific LT
(NVLT-G) is not working anymore due to misalignment

recover is via a reboot of the LT board.

 ALU01770454: DSLAM is not forwarding 802.3 frames(Up/Dn)with 1

tag VLAN in Residential Bridge and in XC Vlan.
Problem: DSLAM is not forwarding 802.3 frames
(upstream/downstream) with 1 tag VLAN in Residential
Bridge and in Cross Connect VLAN mode with NELT-B
and NSLT-A..

 ALU01766860: DHCPv6 port statistics are not available on NVLT-M

Problem: DHCPv6 port statistics are not available on NVLT-M.

 ALU01782349 : ARP storm due to receipt of GARPs in management

vlan
Problem: ARP storm due to receipt of GARPs in management vlan.

 ALU01181472: IGMP/MCAST within PPPoE not working on

residential bridge
Problem: when transporting IGMP within PPPoE and the used
VLAN 7 is configured as residential bridge, then no IGMP
messages from the subscriber are forwarded to the network
or MCAST streams towards the subscriber. This occurs in
NANT-D/NVLT-M setup.

 ALU01782492: ATM to PTM change traffic dropped.

Problem: When changing from ATM to PTM mode, the traffic flows
according to the line sync rate of ATM itself. The drops
are seen in on NVLS-A, NVLT-P and NVLT-Q.

 ALU01779706: Alarm led shelf always on using NANT-E.

Problem: With NANT-E board in an NFXS-A shelf, alarm led on
the shelf is always on, regardless of whether there is an
alarm active in CLI/AMS. Correct behaviour should be
that the LED is on when there is an alarm and off when
there is no alarm.

 ALU01752835: PPPoE session setup over voice PVC sometimes fails on

NALT-M after some time.
Problem: On some lines it is not possible anymore to setup a PPPoE
session. MAC addresses however are still correctly learned
on ISAM, backbone devices and BRAS. The problem is

Note Boards with software preinstalled in EPROMs are released as Functional

PBAs (FPBA). An FPBA groups a certain HW release with a certain
software release. The FPBA is only meaningful for the non-
downloadable software. It is the operator's responsibility to download
the correct operational software version.
Note The version of the PBMT SW mentioned above, is the latest version
available at the moment of the ISAM R4.2.05ce DR4. However it is
highly recommended to perform the migration with the latest version of
the PBMT SW, which can be downloaded from the ‘www.alcatel-
lucent.com‘ server.

7 Installation Guide
Installation instructions
This emergency fix release shall only be installed when all prerequisites
are satisfied (see section 4).

SW Installation Guidelines for the ISAM and SHub Software are
