Software Engineer, Google Maps

Full-Time

As a software engineer on the Google Maps team, you will be at the heart of our mission to change
the world for the better. In addition to the well-known software applications used by millions,
Google Maps is used by thousands of companies to provide better location experiences to users
through their own products.

As a Maps engineer, you will help optimize new and existing features, from tracking and street
image services to directions and route comparisons. You will be expected to anticipate the needs of
Maps users and to help Google Maps provide the “best on the planet” experience in online location
services.

As part of a small team, you’ll have full access to the newest technology in software development.
Within your small cohort of engineers, you will share ideas and resources and work together
creatively. Generally, decisions made within your product areas will be executed quickly without
needing further approval. While most of your time will be spent with your engineering colleagues,
you must also be able to interact with other teams across Google to ensure that Maps creations are
impactful, user friendly, and just plain “Googley.”

We set high performance expectations. Your teammates will participate in your performance
evaluation processes, just as you will help review them.

We also expect you to uphold Google’s values. No matter how clever your ideas may be, they must
align with our mission—to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and
useful. A strong moral compass and an ability to work within our parameters are critical for success.
