DP-XGBERT User Guide

1, General
DP-XGBERT is the 10G series BERT with 5-channles (4 channels of differential SMA interface,
1 channel of XFP interface). But the channel4 checker of BERT is multi-used from the SMA
R4+/- or XFP receiver.

DP-XGBERT is PC based GUI software controllable.

If the users OS is WINDOWS XP or Win7, in default, the executable files are in the disk path of
"C:\Program Files\DP-XGBERT\DP-XGBERT.exe" and the USB driver files are in the
"C:\Program Files\DP-XGBERT\USB driver" sub directory.
Please install the USB driver properly before using the software.

3, Software application
Run the "C:\Program Files\DP-XGBERT\DP-XGBERT.exe"

The initial GUI is shown below.

If there has been two XGBERT sets connected to the PC USB interface, the tow SN will be
automatically searched and listed the in the <SerialNumber List> after the software runs up.
The SN list can be updated by pressing <Search BERT Sets> button, and all of the listed SN
will be listed into the <SerialNumber> ring, which allow the user to control one of the targets
XGBERT with the selected SN.

step1, BERT Selftest

Press <BERT Selftest> button to have a Selftest. If this operation has been successfully done,
the related LED will turn green, or else it will keep gray.

Step2, BERT Initialize

Select the target Pattern, Rate, Checker-Mode, Signal-Flow-Control and Trigger&LED
Channel source etc.

Note that, every time after the user re-selecting these settings, please re-press the <BERT
Initialize> button to make the new settings to be effective.

Press <BERT Initialize> button to have an Initialization. If this operation has been successfully
done, the related LED will turn green, or else it will keep gray.

Please pay attention to the <Trigger&LED Channel> switch.

If the user wants to observe the eye diagram of channel4, please do remember to switch the
<Trigger&LED Channel> key into <SMA-4> position, which means the trigger-out signal is now
synchronized with the channel4 high-speed signal.
Here’s another switch with <XFP> and <SMA-4> options, which allow the user to decide which
signal will be the BERT checker input signal, the SMA R4+/- or XFP receiver.

Step3, BERT Check

Press <BERT Start (F4)> button or <F4> key to have a checking. If the target channel checker
has no error occurred, the related LED will turn green, or else it will keep gray.

Note that, the <Pattern Check> item background different colors, means different results. The
green one means no error bit found, the red one means signal not synchronized, and the
yellow one means error bit has been found in history.
