LEADERSHIP AND UNITY IN ISLAM

Assalamua’alaikum and a very good morning to the honourable judges, loyal time
keeper, respected teachers and all of my fellow audience.

Praise be to Allah, from Whom we seek help and forgiveness, and in Whom we seek
refuge from our own vices.

Today, on this fine morning, I would like to deliver my speech about ‘Leadership and
Unity in Islam’.

In Islamic life, leadership is a principle that is highly emphasized in the pillars of

accountability. Indeed, the Prophet Mohammad in the Hadith states: ‘each of you is a
guardian and is responsible for his subjects’ (Saheeh al Bukhari: 212). Implies that,
even on a personal level, we are obligated to be accountable to whatever and whoever
is under our care.

My esteemed audience,

The Prophet S.A.W., who is our model, began by fostering unity among Muslims.
To achieve that unity, He upheld Islam in himself and the congregation, giving
Him the authority to lead a multi-racial and multi-religious society that includes
non-Muslims who are not forced to convert to Islam, but still can associate with
them. At the same time, demonstrating the Prophet's superior nature and personality,
as well as introducing true Islam.

The audience I honor all,

Islamic culture is not founded on patriotism or nationalism. However, it is the

Aqeedah that rescues humanity as a whole. Tolerance of various religions in Islam
leads to unity and a peaceful life. Moreover, Islam is not anti-religious, but Islam is very
strict to oppression and tyranny in any form. The best part is, Islam does not exclude
the rights of non -Muslims in issues of defense and welfare. They deserve their
rights as long as they are real rights. Therefore, doing good for non -Muslims in the
context of virtue are pleasing to Allah in general.

In a nutshell,

What we need to do is to always learn and understanding the concept of leadership in

Islam and the leader-follower relationship so that we can achieve and enjoy true unity.
Last but not least, the unity in Islam must be kept in order face the challenges in this 4.0
industry era.
