Professor Belgacem Haba is an Algerian scientist and inventor born in 1957 in El-Mighayer, Algeria. He studied physics at the University of Bab Ezzouar in Algiers and received scholarships to study at Stanford University in the US, where he earned two master's degrees and a PhD in solar energy. After graduating, he worked at IBM researching laser applications for microelectronics and spent six years in Japan applying laser technology to microelectronics. Upon returning to the US, he joined Tessera working on miniaturizing mobile phones and cameras, then worked at Rumbus designing the PlayStation 2 and 3 gaming consoles.
