party. The design concept and implementation shall include all interior spaces as described in the
scope of work below.

Scope of work
[Here you’ll include a detailed list of all the work that will be done, and the more detailed, the better,
especially if you’re charging a fixed fee (not hourly). Everything you will charge for should be
mentioned here, but you should also mention that your work does not include services provided by

contractors such as plumbing, electrical, ventilation, architectural work, etc. You can also include the
approximate timeframe for your deliverables as well as the number of concepts and revisions you will
present.]

Design fees
For the professional design services previously described, Your Company Name will charge the
Client [fixed fee, hourly rate or % of project]. All time spent on the project will be considered
design fees including, but not limited to, answering emails and phone calls, researching,
purchasing products, drawing, making modifications to plans, etc. All design fees are non-
refundable.

Payment terms
The Client is expected to make payments by [credit card (mention additional fees if applicable),
electronic transfers (e-transfers), bank transfers, or checks]. Design fees will be charged in
increments and should be paid no later than XX days upon receipt of an invoice, otherwise late
fees of $XX will be accrued.

Drawings
Your Company Name’s drawings and plans are conceptual in nature and are intended to set forth
design intent. Drawings also rely on the validity and accuracy of the information provided by the
Client, therefore Your Company Name is not liable for any miscalculations or design flaws caused
by inaccurate information. All drawings are to be used for this specific design project only and
cannot be used by the Client for any other purpose.

Purchasing & procurement

The interior designer will not place orders nor procure goods on behalf of the Client until the
receipt of a deposit. In most cases, vendors require full payments when an order is placed, in
which case the Client is expected to pay in full for such goods. If the Client prefers to purchase
directly from vendors, she/he is able to do so.

Reimbursable expenses
All out-of-pocket expenses related to the project must be reimbursed to the interior designer by
the Client. These expenses may include freight/postage charges, delivery fees, storage costs,
travel costs including meals and lodging where necessary, etc.

Refunds & cancellations

2
Once furniture, furnishings and/or other materials are purchased or an order has been placed,
they will most likely be non-refundable, especially custom-made orders. As such, Your Company
Name will not reimburse the client if a refund from the vendor or a cancellation of the order are
not possible.

Price guarantees
Your Company Name cannot guarantee prices of merchandise, interior installation, or other
services not performed by the interior designer. Vendor pricing is subject to change, as such, it is
out of the interior designer’s control.

Unforeseen circumstances
Your Company Name is not responsible for any shipment delays and/or changes in availability of
furnishings, furniture and materials due to extenuating circumstances such as the COVID-19
pandemic. These changes may cause a delay in the overall delivery of the project which the
interior designer cannot be held accountable for.

Contractors & consultants

From time to time, Your Company Name might have to employ the professional services of
outside contractors or consultants. The Client will sign a separate contract with all third-party
workers. Your Company Name does not provide a warranty or guarantee of their part of the
project, and the quality of their work and performance depends entirely on them. Rest assured
that Your Company Name will supervise the work being done by the third parties to make sure
the project is on track.

Insurance policy
The Client is required to have insurance coverage for all furnishings, furniture, and materials
during handling, moving, storage, and installation. The Client is responsible for the payment of
said insurance, and it must also include coverage for the interior designer.

Ownership of design
Your Company Name shall retain ownership of the design including, but not limited to, drawings,
renderings, sketches, samples, and other materials prepared by the interior designer for this
project. Ownership includes copyrights, trademarks, patents, intellectual property, or other
proprietary rights existing in design. The Client shall not share or use designs for any other
project without written permission from the interior designer.

3
Photographs & videography
The Client agrees to the interior designer taking photos/videos of the house before, during and
after the project is complete. The photos/videos can be used for business purposes, including
sharing on social media, press, publications, advertising, digital portfolio, etc. The Client’s name
and address will not be disclosed without prior consent.

Contract termination
This agreement can be terminated if either party fails to uphold the terms. A phone call/in-
person meeting as well as a written notice are required to explain the reasoning. Your Company
