Answer any three questions that are given below.

1. A four stroke six cylinder gas engine with a stroke volume of 1.75 liters 10
develops 25 kw at 480 r.p.m. The mean effective pressure is 6 bar and
each cylinder misfired 2 times in one minute. Find the speed of the
engine.

2. Write down the difference between petrol and diesel engine. 10

Write down the significance of compression ratio in IC engine.

3. A sample of coal has the following composition by mass: Carbon 75%; 10

hydrogen 6%; oxygen 8%; nitrogen 2.5%, sulphur 1.5% and ash
0.7%.Calculate the higher heating value and lower heating value of the
fuel.
Write down the task of three way catalytic converter.

4. Write short notes on carburetor and common rail system. 10
