MEM 642 – ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT

Activity

1. Discuss lengthily the different changes that happened to you since the pandemic up to now.
Since the pandemic started, there are various changes that I had to adapt for myself to adjust to
our situation right now. First of all, I had to study how to utilize online educational management
systems that will aid me to facilitate online learning. That is so that I will still be able to teach
properly during remote learning. Also, I had to learn to devise a way that will make the students
under modular learning to feel included in the learning process. I also had to adjust with the way I
give activities as they have to suit the modality of the students. I must keep an open mind as to the
different situations that my students might be in. I have also come to appreciate more proper
communication with parents and teachers. I have to put in more effort now to contact them and
keep track of my students.
2. As a teacher, what styles of leadership do you use for your students?

As a teacher, I can say that I utilize the different leadership styles depending on the situation which
I think reflects situational leadership. There are times when I tend to become authoritarian
especially when setting rules in class to keep everything organized and for students to know their
limits. However, I am also usually democratic as I like asking my students for their opinion like in
forming groupings or how else I can make them understand concepts. The subjects I handle usually
ask for students’ creativity and opinions that’s why I need to be democratic. I can also be a
transactional leader, but I focus more on the rewards rather than the punishment.

3. Analyze the organization where you are in right now. Prepare a simple organizational development
for your organization.

In our organization, the most common problem we encounter is the consistency in doing the
reports and file management. The tendency is for each teacher to wait for others to supply the data
needed and if forgotten by our school head, the report won’t be done. I think what needs to be
done is to provide more empowerment to the teachers assigned for the reports and identifying all
the reports that need to be done, as well as the people assigned and timeline right at the beginning
of the school year. There must also be just one place like a box or an online storage drive where the
reports will be placed and someone will also be assigned to oversee it.
