NATIONAL READING MONTH CELEBRATION


NARRATIVE REPORT

PART I. INTRODUCTION

The ability to read is a necessary life skill. It plays an important role in a


child's education and personal growth. It is critical to a child's academic and personal
development. The importance of reading to a learern's achievement cannot be
overstated. For lifelong learning, reading and writing abilities are vital. One can develop
the ability to learn if they have acquired the necessary reading and numeracy skills.
The theme for this years National Reading Month is “ Bawat Bata Bumabasa sa
Kabila ng Hamon ng Pandemya.” Mabilang Elementary School have spearheaded
various activities in the community to promote love for reading. The week-long
celebration aimed to harness the reading potentials of learners through the active
involvement of teachers, parents and community partners.

PART II. ACTIVITIES TAKEN

DAY I. KICK OFF CEREMONY


The District Virtual Kick-off conducted last November 26, 2021 at 3:00
PM was attended by Mr. Edward Joseph R. Celario, Mrs. Marjorie M. Gaspar and 4
pupils.
School-based planning for the week-long celebration was conducted through a
virtual meeting with the Mabilang Elementary School Teaching force at 8:00 PM.

DAY II . PROJECT M.A.R.I.T.E.S.


Monitoring Active Reading through Integration of Technology and
Empowering learners to Strive towards literacy. Class Advisers asked learners to send
a video of themselves while reading a text. Feedback were also provided and additional
reading resources were given.
DAY II. READING FAMILY

Mabilang Elementary School acknowledge the importance of promoting


involvement of parents and household partners in aiding the learners in the midst of the
pandemic. Because reading is so vital for academic success, parents can and should
play a part in stimulating their children's interest in reading and the development of their
reading abilities.

DAY II. BOOK CHARACTER COSPLAY COMPETITION

Mabilang Elementary School acknowledge the importance of promoting


involvement of parents and household partners in aiding the learners in the midst of the
pandemic. Because reading is so vital for academic success, parents can and should
play a part in stimulating their children's interest in reading and the development of their
reading abilities.
DAY III. KAT’CHERS OF READING

Kabataan Teachers of Reading. Youth of Barangay Mabilang through the


leadership of the SK Federation took part in teaching young learners how to read.

DAY IV. SPELLING BEE AND RIDDLE CONTEST

Through reading, vocabulary of learners are enriched. This is put into test
during the Spelling Bee and Riddle Contest held at 2:00 PM. One participant per
section joined the said activities.

DAY V: PROJECT DEAR


Another reading activity at Mabilang  Elementary School is Project
DEAR (Drop Everything and Read). Teachers encouraged children to put down
other things at home and pick up a book to read for at least 10 minutes. 

DAY V: NATIONAL READING MONTH CULMINATING ACTIVITY

Tha Mabilang Elementary School conducted a virtual culminating


activity for the National Reading Month. The winners from the various contests
were awarded. Intermission numbers from pupils such as Poem recital and
Storytelling were also included.

Strengthened Promotion of the READ KIDS Program.


READ KIDS were extensively promoted. Learners are encouraged to watch
READ KIDS episodes every Friday. Parents send pictures of their children while
watching the program.
