Description of Finding
44.01 Location:
Road 3, 4 in CB & Road no. 20 in 5D

Observation:
The edges of the granular sub-base are not compacted
properly. Verge strips are also absent at the edges of the
road in the filling area.
Edges of the granular sub base filling materials in the
above mentioned roads are not compacted and no
arrangement made to retain the soil in the position
especially in the filling areas. So, in future sliding or
erosion of soil below kerb stone or road due to rain or
flood may damage the road.
Instruction:
Compaction for all layers must be done properly and
the compaction test results to be submitted in time. The
width of the verge strips at the edges of the roads is to
be executed as per the Oman Highway Design
Standard.
Take the appropriate measures to retain the filled and
compacted soil in location to prevent erotion or sliding
of soil below kerb stone or road.
