Academic Poster:

1500-2000 words

You are required to design an academic poster of a topic in tourism and/or hospitality. This topic can be
a type of tourism/hospitality (e.g., dark tourism, backpacker tourism, literary tourism, digital detox
holiday, slow tourism), an issue in tourism and hospitality (e.g., gender issues, social inclusion,
environmental sustainability, destination resilience, mobilities, sharing economy), a discussion of
particular theory applied in tourism and hospitality (e.g., hostipitality, tourist gaze, performance theory,
queer theory, culture confusion). During the weekly lectures and tutorials, you will be introduced to a
wide range of concepts, theories, and topics. You can develop your poster ideas from these sessions, or
choose your own one. You are recommended to build your academic poster from your journal critique,
but it is not compulsory. During the term, workshops will be provided to advise you how to design an
academic poster. You will need to conduct an independent desk research of your chosen topic. Discuss
both theoretical and contextual aspects of this topic. The academic poster should be evidence-based
and well referenced. You also need to engage with the critical discussion and analytical synthesis in this
poster.
