TITLE: THE EFFECTS OF TOTAL NETWORKING SITES ON
THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCEOF THE STUDENTS OF
GRADE 11 IN PHINMA UNIVERSITY OF PANGASINAN.

“RESEARCH PROBLEM”

Introduction:
The purpose of this research was to determine whether the social
networking sites affects the academic performance of the student in grade 11
in Phinma University of Pangasinan. This part will explain the background
of research, statement of the research problem, purpose of the research,
importance of research, limitation of research, definition of term and
summary.

Background of Research:

Lately, online social networking sites engage students and need to be


studied as distributors of information. The medium of internet has involved
with growth in its applications. The interactive nature of online
environments have expanded with social networks. Connecting through
social networks started as a niche activity, but with time, it is now a
phenomenon. The social networking sites are being used in various ways
like forming communities, chatting, blogging, etc. Apart from different
institutions even now a days are forming communities or groups of different
social networking sites.

“Statement of Research Problems”

Social networking is the connection of friend or family together which


allow you to communicate easily. With social networking sites you have a
long chain of friend, you can chat or share information or ideal with.
“Purpose of Research”

The purpose of this research was to determine whether the social


networking sites affect the academic performance of the student of grade 11
in Phinma University of Pangasinan. The objectives of this research were;

“Research Objectives”

This research was carried out with the following objectives:

A) To discover how the student of Phinma University of Pangasinan are


using the social networking sites;
B) To determine how the social networking sites can be used a platform for
educational learning for Phinma University of Pangasinan.

“Importance of Research”

The finding of this research hopefully will create awareness among


students who accessing social networking sites.

“Limitation of Research”

This research was carried out of Phinma University of Pangasinan


with a sample of 30 students. A survey has been conducted among the student
which take around 10 minutes for each student.

“Summarry”

The research was carried out to make sure that social networking sites
will not affects students academic performance. This research was carried out in
Phinma University of Pangasinan.
“Variable”

In this research, following variables were selected;

Social networking sites as independent variables

Students as dependent variables

“Scope of the Study”

Pangasinan people are exposed to various kind of social networking sites


on the internet and this study will help how the social networking sites can be
improved to be used as a platform for educational learning for Phinma University
of Pangasinan student in the Pangasinan.

“The Hypothesis for the Research”

Social networking sites are useful platform for student learning and
academic performance.

“Definition”

The research investigates pedagogical impacts of social networking sites on


undergraduate students at the discussion boards, podcasts are educational nodes in
a huge network. The study tabulates the usage of these web2.0 applications and
their impact on linguistic and social behaviors of young learners. The demographic
segmentation constructs a framework to evaluate social tools and e-learning
technologies popular amongst learners. The results of empirical evidence explore
classroom and social software as paradigms that build young knowledgeable
societies. It studies variables that examine the effectiveness of these social tools in
knowledge sharing and general awareness of student communities.
