Announcer: we present mathematics for form one our program is on divisibility test of 2, 3, 4,5
and 6. Welcome teacher, welcome students
Bring up signature tune for 10 seconds, and fade out

RADIO TEACHER: hello teacher, hello students. Today we are going to discuss divisibility
test of 2, 3, 4,5 and 6. A divisibility test is way to identify whether the given number is divisible
by a fixed divisor without getting a remainder. To start with divisibility test of 2, which states
that a number is divisible by 2 if the last digit is either an even number or zero. Students what is
48 divided by 2?
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds
Radio teacher: yes Veronica

VERONICA: 48 divide by 2 is equal to 24.

RADIO TEACHER: Very good Veronica. 48 is divisible by 2 because the last digit, that is 8,
is even. Giving a reason is 70 divisible by 2?
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Maulid

MAULID: yes 70 is divisible by 2 because the last digit is zero.
RADIO TEACHER: Good, Maulid, students what of 25 is it divisible and why?
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Charity

CHARITY: 25 divided by 2 is 12 remainder one, therefore, 25 is not divisible by 2 because the
last digit is neither even nor zero.
MASENO UNIVERSITY

RADIO TEACHER: Correct answer Charity, students, state other examples of numbers that
are divisible by 2
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Maina

MAINA: 102, 306, 10150
RADIO TEACHER: Well done Maina, all the numbers mentioned by Maina are divisible by
2. Students that was divisibility test of 2, let us now discuss the divisibility test of 3. It states that
a number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by three. Students work out 1257
divided by 3.
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Veronica

VERONICA: 1257 divide by 3 is 419
RADIO TEACHER: that is correct Veronica. The number 1257 is divisible by 3 because the
sum of its digits is 15 which I divisible by 3; that is 1+2+5+7=15. Students in our next example
work 103

RADIO TEACHER: divide by 3

Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Maulid

MAULID: 103 divide by 3 is equal to 34 remainder 1.
RADIO TEACHER: very good Maulid, the number 103 is not divisible by 3 because the sum
of its digit is 4 which is not divisible by 3, that is, 1+0+3=4. Students state other examples of
numbers which are divisible by 3.
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Laventa.

LAVENTA: 243, 9009, 300
RADIO TEACHER: excellent charity, all the numbers mentioned by Charity are divisible by
3. Well students that was all about divisibility test of 3 let us now look on the divisibility test of
4, which states that a number is divisible by 4 if the last two digits are both zeroes or form a
number which is divisible by 4. For example; work out 400 divided by 4.
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.
MASENO UNIVERSITY

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Veronica

VERONICA: 400 divide by 4 is equal to 100.
RADIO TEACHER: Very good Veronica, the number 400 is divisible by 4 because the last
two digits are both zeroes. Students solve 1132 divided by 4
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Maina

MAINA: 1132 divide by 4 is equal to 283.
RADIO TEACHER: Good Maina, in this example the number 1132 is divisible by 4 because
the last two digits make the number 32 which is divisible by 4. Students calculate 3470 divided
by 4.
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Charity

CHARITY: 3470 divided by 4 is 867 remainder 2.
RADIO TEACHER: Very good Charity, in this example the number 3470is no divisible by 4
because the number made by the last two digits is 70 which is not divisible by 4. Students name
other numbers which are divisible by 4.
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Maulid

MAULID: 4564, 76900, 588
RADIO TEACHER: Good Maulid, all the numbers mentioned by Maulid are divisible by 4.
Finally moving to the divisibility test of 5, this states that a number is divisible by 5 if the last
digit is either zero or 5. Students solve 2340 divided by 5.
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Laventa

LAVENTA: 2340 divided by 5 is equal to 468
RADIO TEACHER: Correct answer Maina, the number 2340 is divisible by 5 because its last
digit is zero. Class; solve 7835 divided by 5 and state whether the number is divisible by 5,
giving a reason for your answer.
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.
MASENO UNIVERSITY

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Laventa.

LAVANTA: 7835 divided by 5 is equal to 1567. The number is divisible by 5 because its last
digit is 5.

RADIO TEACHER: Good Charity, class work out 1256 divided by 5

Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Maulid

MAULID: 1256 divided by 5 is equal to 251 remainder 1.
RADIO TEACHER: Correct answer Maulid. Giving a reason is the number divisible by 5?
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHER: Yes Veronica

VERONICA: The number 1256 is not divisible by 5 because the last digit is neither 5 nor zero.
RADIO TEACHER: Well done Veronica, class list other numbers which are divisible by 5.
Bring up signature tune for 5 seconds.

RADIO TEACHR: Yes Maina

MAINA: 12860, 3565, 475
RADIO TEACHER: Very good Maina, the numbers listed by Maina are all divisible by 5.
Bring up signature music for 5 seconds.
RADIOTEACHER: Having discussed divisibility test for 2 and 3, let us now discuss the
divisibility test of 6.
Bring bridge music for 5 seconds.
RADIOTEACHER: A number is divisible by 6, if it is divisible by both 2 and 3. For example,
work out 18 divide by 6.
Bridge music for 5 seconds.
RADIOTEACHER: Yes Charity.
CHARITY: 18 divide by 6 is equal to 3.
RADIOTEACHER: Very good Charity. 18 is visible by 6 because 18 is visible by both 2 and 3.
Work out 102 divide by 6.
MASENO UNIVERSITY

Bridge music for 5 seconds

RADIOTEACHER: Yes Maina.
MAINA: 102 divide by 6 is equal to 17.
RADIOTEACHER: Well done Maina. The number 102 is divisible by 6 because it is divisible
by both 2 and 3. Students, work out 70 divide by 6
Bridge music for 5 seconds.
RADIOTEACHER: Yes Veronicah.
VERONICAH: 70 divide by 6 is equal to 11 remainder 4.
RADIOTEACHER: Very good Veronicah. The number 70 divide by 6 gives 11 remainder 4.
Because the number is divisible by 2 and not by 3. Students list other examples of numbers
which are divisible by 6.
Bridge music for 5 seconds.
RADIOTEACHER: Yes Maulid
MAULID: 240, 906, 3018.

RADIO TEACHER: Today we learnt about the divisibility test of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 we

discussed on how to easily show that a number is divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 without actually
performing the division process. In the next lesson, we shall expect students to list other numbers
which are divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 that we did not mention in this lesson.
Play bridging music for 10 seconds and fade out.
