Invitation for Internship Applications: ​Legal Researcher at Lex Insider

Lex Insider is a volunteer driven legal journalism platform operated by Lex Do It Trust - a
non-profit registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882 in Delhi. We are launching a new
initiative focusing on investigative legal journalism and we are inviting applications for
internships for the posts of Legal Researcher.

As a researcher, your responsibilities will be:

- To participate in brainstorming sessions with the team
- To perform judgment analysis and background research
- To assist the team of writers/journalists and provide them with guidance w.r.t. legal
matters
- To contribute positively to the ecosystem of journalism and legal research in India

Duration and Schedule:

The programme is structured to be 3 months long in duration. Candidates who perform well will
be given the opportunity to continue after 3 months and may be eligible for a more senior
position. Each participant will be assigned to a team of 3 people under a supervisor. Each
participant will be expected to contribute 10 hours of work each week. Each friday evening the
entire team will get together and briefly discuss the progress they made in that week. The last
friday of each month will be a game night where everyone will participate in some fun activities
to ensure a sense of team spirit.

Remuneration:
The programme is unpaid, however there is an intern of the month award which bestows a cash
prize to the best performing intern in the entire team. There will also be a monthly ‘game night’
where participants can win cash prizes.

Training and Intake:

Each participant will go through an onboarding and training process which will ensure that they
are capable of performing their responsibilities adequately.
Performance Review:
There will be a monthly performance review of each participant’s progress. Participants who do
not perform will be given additional training tasks.

Communication and Coordination:

The team uses ​Slack​ as a communications and coordination platform. All official communication
will be through Slack and Email.

Application Procedure:

form.
- All candidates will be invited to participate in a screening exam which consists of 30
multiple choice questions. The exam will test your ability to conduct legal research.
- Candidates who pass the exam can choose a convenient slot for an interview. The
interview is designed to give you an opportunity to ask questions as much as it is for us
to understand you more.
- Candidates who pass the interview will receive an offer.

Please note: Due to the nature of the programme, applications continue on a rolling basis. In
case you qualify for the internship and express your interest in joining on a particular date which
is unavailable (due to all spots being taken), we will reach out to you to check your availability
as soon as a spot opens. The program is rigidly structured and we only take in as many
participants as we can provide individual attention to.
