Open Loop Instructions – 41951310

Use the emissions table on the sheet you downloaded previously to determine what the target Exhaust
O2 (percent dry) should be on the meter for a 0% load.

The load control increases or decreases the load in 10% increments. Click the plus button on the Load
control once to increase the load on the engine to 10%.

Use the rich and lean buttons on the lambda tuning page in INSITE to adjust the mixture.

Once the O2 values are in range, increase the load by 10%. Use the table to determine the target O2
range, and make any adjustments that may be necessary.

Continue increasing the load and making adjustments to the mixture until you reach 40% load. Record
the O2 value achieved at each load on the Emissions Setup Record Sheet.

Increase the load to 50%. At 50% load and above, adjust the lambda offset so the NOx is less than 175
ppm. Record the NOx level achieved at each load, up to 100%. This is referred to as a dry NOx reading.

Increase the load by 10% and if necessary, adjust the lambda offset so the NOx is less than 175 ppm.
Repeat this step until you reach 100% while the NOx remains at less than 175 ppm.

Click the Next button on the INSITE control to continue to the Torque Over Boost tuning page.

Torque Over Boost Tuning Instructions – 41951320

Under Engine Parameters, monitor the Desired Closed-Loop Fueling and the Sensed Closed-Loop Fueling
values and adjust the torque over boost offset using the rich and lean buttons until they match as
closely as possible. Reduce the load to 0%.

Click the Enable button on the INSITE control to continue to Closed-Loop Mode, then click OK on the
dialog box to confirm.

Closed-Loop Mode Instructions – 41951330

In closed-loop mode, you will increase the load again while observing the emission parameters to verify
that they remain within the same specifications as in open-loop mode.

Increase the load in 10% increments up to 50% and verify that the O2 value closely matches the O2
levels achieved and recorded earlier.

Increase the load in 10% increments up to 100% and verify that the NOx value at each step remains at
less than 175 ppm.

Reduce the load to 0% and click Finish to complete the tuning.
