I. Introduction:
Engineering is one of the most wanted job field by the young
Moroccan; the number of engineers in morocco is growing for year to
year, although it is not enough yet. More companies are investing in
our country in different fields of engineering (industrial,
technological development …), thus demanding a large amount of
qualified engineers.
So, what can we say about the current status of engineering in
morocco by taking the example of the National High School of Arts
and Crafts (ENSAM)? What are the engineering sector there? In
addition, is there any industrial projects in the future that benefits
Morocco (thus its engineers)?
II. The current status of engineering in Morocco:
The chart clearly shows the difference between this year and the
earlier years in ENSAM Meknes.

Although augmenting the number of students is a profitable
action, the institutions aren’t ready for this huge change in many
ways due to : a lack of teaching materials, a big number of students in
the classes …
Thus, when can say that despite the efforts that had been done, the
engineering sector in morocco needs more development.
III. The future of the main industrial fields of engineering
(Mechanical, Energetic, Electrical and Civil engineering).
The main industrial fields can divided in four :
1. Mechanical Engineering :
Mechanical Engineering is the main sector of engineering, thus
it has the choice for many students. Therefore, its job offers are
hard to find, as you need around 18 months to find a job (in
comparison with an energetic engineer.)
2. Energetic Engineering :
As for Energetic Engineering, Morocco does not have resources
like oil or gas to benefit from in the future that is why green
energy is a big step that he had taken. Many projects have been
set for 2020 to multiply solar and wind energy stations, which
will need more than 50,000 engineers.

3. Electrical Engineering :
Electrical engineering is one of the newer branches of
engineering, and dates back to the late 19th century. It is the
branch of engineering that deals with the technology of electricity.
Engineers work on a wide range of components, devices and
systems, from tiny microchips to huge power station generators.
Electronic engineering in the past was not interesting because
during that time it was hard to invert electronic material because
there was scarcity of resources that was taking control over
humans' life. Electronics today is taking a lead because the
economy and society benefits from electronic engineering, as this
is seen by anyone living on this planet. Many companies use
electrical appliances such as computers, laptops, etc., which lead to
a good profit to their companies and thus this result in a huge
growth of the economy worldwide.
4. Civil Engineering :
A civil engineer is a person who practices civil engineering —
the application of planning, designing, constructing,
maintaining, and operating infrastructures while protecting the
public and environmental health as well as improving existing
infrastructures that have been neglected. Civil engineering is
one of the oldest engineering disciplines because it deals with
constructed including planning, designing, and overseeing
construction and maintenance of building structures, and
facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors,
channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and
water and sewage systems.

IV. Future industrial projects in Morocco :
1. Linamar
Project: automotive engine components plant
Analysis: The futures investment will be $ 280 million. This is the
most important project of those announced on July 4 and a real "novelty".
This Canadian group is one of the largest in the world in its specialty.
Linamar will build an engine component manufacturing plant (probably
foundry and machining) to supply Kenitra's future PSA plant. He arrives in
support of the motor industry still stammering in Morocco.
2. Delphi Automotive
Project: new plant and activity expansion in automotive wiring
Analysis: Delphi's commitments include a future factory in Meknes, a
project repeatedly mentioned by the Moroccan press and the hiring of
10,000 people in addition to the 12,000 by 2021. The group already has
three factories in Morocco in Tangier and Kenitra. Delphi Automotive,
which has its headquarters in the United Kingdom, has also announced
the creation of a development center in Morocco. A first for him. The
new plant reinforces the very strong car wiring industry in Morocco,
which manufactures a quarter of the harnesses assembled in Europe.
3. Simoldes group
Project: Industrial complex on 10 ha in a place not yet specified. This
is the manufacture of molds and interior and exterior components of
vehicles. Investment of 650 million dirhams with the creation of 300
jobs.
Analysis: This is a new project. The Portuguese group Simoldes is
one of the leaders of the plastics mold in Europe. He was not present in
Morocco. His project also includes a plastics business. The mold activity
will come to develop this sector still very modest in Morocco.

4. Mecaplast
Project: automotive plastic parts factory
Analysis: Based in Monaco, Mecaplast is one of the leading
automotive plastics manufacturers in France and in Europe. It operates
in the body parts and under the bonnet. He was not present in Morocco
and closed his activities in Tunisia. After experiencing financial
difficulties, this group of 6,000 employees was taken over last January by
the private equity fund Equistone.
5. Smom - Snop Tangier
Project: creation of a press tooling plant and extension of the
stamping plant of the French group Snop on Tangier Free Zone.
Analysis: This project has already been announced during Tangier's
outsourcing trade show in April. It will allow the creation of a tooling
sector in Morocco, almost non-existent today. In April, the tooling
project was quantified by Snop with L'Usine Nouvelle at 10 million euros
and the extension of the stamping site at 7 million euros.

6. TE Connectivity
Project: already active in Tangier and launched by this American group,
one of the world giants of the connectors.
Analysis: The factory located in the free zone of Tangier was
inaugurated on January 20. With an investment of around 3.5 million
euros. The project has already been the subject of an agreement signed in
February by Moulay Hafid Elalamy.
7. Yazaki Kenitra
Project: assembly plant for cables and automotive bundles

PAGE 6
Analysis: This plant was opened in early 2011. This is a modernization
of the site. Yazaki also has one site in Tangier and another, the most
recent, in Meknes. The Japanese group employs more than 15,000
workers in Morocco and is one of the leaders in the wiring industry in
Morocco with its compatriot Sumitomo (Sews).
