Job Title: To make Butt joint, T- joint, Corner joint, Lap joint and Edge joint.

Unit: Shaping metals Welding.

Reading: General Mechanics (page 355 to 390).

Objectives: The trainee’s will make Butt joint, T- joint, Corner joint, Lap joint and
Edge joint by using the AC or DC welding machines.

Laboratory work: Tools, Equipments and Materials

Item No Qty Unit Description Remark

1 1 pcs Welding machines AC or DC
2 1 pcs Hacksaw
3 1 pcs Steel rule
4 10 pcs Flat iron 3x50mm
5 5 pcs Electrode 2.5mm E-6013
6 1 pcs Face shield
7 1 pcs Tong
8 1 pcs Hand glove

Procedure: Make the Butt joint, T- joint, Corner joint, Lap joint and Edge joint as the
drawing given (see the back page).Use mild steel flat bar, cut on the bench table.
After cutting to approximate size, finish shaping by the welding on the AC or DC
welding machines. Check accuracy of the joint angles.

Evaluation: The teacher examination and inspection, using the following criteria.
 All steps were completed in the correct sequence/manner
 All safety procedures were followed in using hand tools and equipments.
