REACTION # 16: “ HOW TO DISCIPLINE THE FILIPINOS”

POINT: Filipino people value on discipline as a way of helping a person fit into the real
world happily and effectively.

REASON: To discipline, it must start at home at the very young mind. Therefore
parents play a major role in inculcating the value of discipline to their children.

EXPLANATION:
Disciplining children is one of the most important yet difficult responsibilities of
parenting and there are no shortcuts. The goal of effective discipline is to foster
acceptable and appropriate behaviour in the child and to raise emotionally mature
adults. The foundation of effective discipline is respect. The child should show respect
to their parent’s authority and also the right of others. If this values are properly
managed at home, the same will be practiced and applied outside their homes.
Therefore, a child will be protected from danger, and help learn self-discipline, and
develop a healthy conscience and a sense of responsibility and that values will be
develop.

POINT: Filipinos show self-discipline in many aspects of their lives. There are a lot of
life stories which show discipline is still alive in the mind and hearts of many Filipinos.
