Session Warm-up Practices - No Footballs I

Category: Warm-ups Ryan Mooney, Chester, United Kingdom

Difficulty: Moderate Individual-Adult Member

Explosive Reaction

- Players, to begin with, have a partner that face opposite each other
with a cone between them.
- The coach gives instructions on varied movements to do, before
calling one of two colours.
- Varied movements could be toe taps, heel flicks, high knees and
progress to more on the ball.
- The coach chooses the strongest & weakest side, for the rule below.
- For each cone, the winner goes up one, the loser goes down (except
where it isn't possible).

Reaction Race 1v1

- Two players to meet in the middle opposite each over the centre
cone.
- On the coach command they race to the colour as instructed.
- As soon as the command is given, the next two react to come
together in the middle.
- Progressions could be added using the goals, playing the ball out
different ways, leaving a ball in the middle to take, passing one-two
combination before,

Overhead Ball
- The players start in a line at a starting point, with the player at the
back holding the ball.
- Once a player has given the player infront the ball over their head,
they run to the front.
- This process carries on until they have all passed the finishing point.
- To begin with, the players start standing and progress onto sitting
down.
Cone Flip
- Two teams of players split as equal as possible.
- A set of cones, the same colour, with half of them flipped and half of
them as normal.
- Each team has a task of flipping the cones to the way they have been
given, either upside down or normal.

Bulldogs

- Players have to make it from one GK area to the other, without being
tagged or having their bib swiped from them.
- If the player gets caught, they have to join the bulldogs.
Progressions
- Add a football for each player.
- Two players with one football, at least two or three passes have to be
made.

1T1B w/ Areas

- 1 touch, 1 bounce is the max the players are allowed.

- The ball has to be played within reaching distance or within enough
time to get a touch.
- The ball also has to stay in the designated area.
- Progress by adding a net in between and splitting into two teams with
the same rules for each person, the team altogether can have as many
touches as they want, as long as they're not one after another for the
same player.
Swipe the Bib

- Each player has one or two bibs, tucked into their side.
- Every man for themselves, collecting as many bibs as possible.
- Time limits added to make it even more competative.
Progression
- Add a football
- Add safety islands

Colour Cone Reaction

- Movements or positions are set by the coach to do continuously until
a colour cone is shouted to react and pickup.
- After several attempts, losers start to move down and winners move
up.
