B-Plan for Pledge Eco

1. Motivation
Pledge Eco – These days, even children are aware of pollution. It has become so
ubiquitous that practically everyone recognizes that pollution levels steadily increase.
About 3.3 million tons of waste is generated each year, and that's nearly equivalent to
the weight of the entire human population. This leads to disturbance in the ecosystem
as well. About 1000 cows die every year due to plastic consumption; around 50-55
kgs of plastic is found in the stomach of cows (according to post-mortem reports). Not
only this, Plastic waste kills up to 1 million sea birds, 100,000 sea mammals, marine
turtles, and countless fish each year.

Not just the plastic, but cutting down of trees for the manufacturing of different
human needs and luxury plays a vital role in climate change and the rise of global
warming. Approximately 3.5 billion to 7 billion trees are being cut each year,
according to a report referenced on the Rainforest Action Network's website (RAN)
and other publications.

Owing to the factors mentioned earlier, being an environmentalist has motivated us to

provide a solution that can lessen pollution in our environment. Pledge Eco is an
initiative in which we produce edible cutlery with wheat bran. It is the hard outer
layer of the wheat kernel, which is jam-packed with various nutrients and Fibre. The
bran is stripped away from the wheat kernel during the milling process and becomes a
by-product. We can use that bi-product in making the cutlery. Around 60 Lakhs Tons
of wheat bran got wasted in the year 2019. Cutlery made of the bran is edible, readily
biodegradable, not harmful for any other living being, even if they consume it.

2. Marketing Strategy
As with any other company, we have also thought of some market strategy for our
Project. They are as follows: -

USP: - Pledge Eco is concerned with saving trees; as we know, one tree can make
10000 paper or wood plates, whereas 1 ton of wheat bran equals 10000 pledge eco
plates. This leads to the saving of 1 tree at Rs. 1. Same is the case with another cutlery
like a spoon.
Now the cost of 1 ton of wheat bran is around Rs. 10000 and the Price of Pledge Eco
per plate are Rs. 1, and that of a spoon is 0.50, proving that it is cost-efficient. And
above all, it is Eco-Friendly as well as it is edible, decomposes in 30 days, and can be
eaten by animals or can be used as fertilizers as well.

Competition and Barriers to Entry: - Barriers to entry is an economics and business

term describing factors that can prevent or impede newcomers into a market or
industry sector, limiting competition.
We have introduced some of the Barriers to entry in our Project too.

1. Patent Rights: - Under this, no one can copy our idea, and if someone does the same,
they will do it on a commission basis.

2. Production Cost: - We have planned to keep the production fully automatic with
lesser human InterVision, which can save us a lot of money. Also, Other projects use
different crops to produce something like this, and their overall cost increases.
3. Wheat Bran Usage: - As observed, our other current competitors use wheat and other
crops. No such project is carried out now, which uses Wheat Bran. Additionally, we
will also have some added flavour to our cutlery, making them stand out.
4. Selling Price: - The range of the cutlery currently is around Rs. 5-10 per piece,
whereas we have planned to keep it in the field of Rs. 1-5 per piece.

3. Revenue Model
A revenue model is a conceptual structure that expresses and explains a company's
revenue-generating strategy. It contains value propositions, income generation
methodologies, revenue sources, and the target market for the offered product. For our
Project, we have introduced the following Revenue Models.

1. Patent Rights: - We will permit other companies to produce our products in different
places and charge a commission from them in each sale.
2. Collaboration: - We will collaborate with Ice-Cream companies and event planners as
they can use our products at maximum.
3. Worship Offering: - We can also collaborate with the Temples and Gurudwaras for
distributing their holy food in the Pledge Eco cutleries.
4. Street Vendors: - Street Vendors can replace their plastic and other cutleries with our
cutlery which will be cost-effective for both parties.

4. Target Market

 One of our target markets can be the Ice-Cream companies. These companies already
have cones which they use. In addition, they can do it for other Ice-Creams, which can reduce
the use of wooden sticks and plastics.
 Our next target market can be Quick service Restaurants, which provide Dine-In or
take-aways.
 Our final target can be the holy places where more than 10,000 people eat food daily.
It leads to a lot of garbage, and by using our product, they can reduce the amount of garbage
generation.
