Introduction

Steel Construction company based in Carletonville requires the services of a Construction / Site Manager to be
placed in Zimplats Mine - Zimbabwe on a short duration contract (approximately 7 months) with the
prospect of extension of the contract. This role will report to the Project Management Team on site.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for the management and coordination of the day-to-day site construction activities on the Project
under client scope, ensuring that the client’s specifications and requirements are met. Ensuring construction
and site safety, checking, and preparing site reports, maintaining quality control procedures, finding ways to
prevent problems and to solve any that crop up, assessing and minimising risk. He/she will ensure that all
client related activities are executed/conducted in a safe and responsible manner, according to agreed schedule,
budget, and quality and to coordinate and manage the on-site resources accordingly.
 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsible for MHSA (Mine Health & Safety Act)on site and implementation of the MHSA and
Project Execution Plans.

Ensure execution of the Construction tasks/activities in accordance to design and specification in time
Working collaboratively with the end Client and key stakeholders
Ensure all resources undergo safety inductions on site and the necessary PPE provided as required
Attended daily/weekly project meetings with the Client Construction Manager to provide feedback on
progress and to provide feedback to the team
Meet weekly with the Project Manager and project team to discuss the progress and report on site S
progress/ risks/concerns
Set performance targets for direct reports and discuss and monitor performance. A
Ensure leadership and motivation by establishing an open and transparent communication process

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

5 year's mining industry experience 

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Construction / Site Manager

Construction experience with SMPP (Steel, Mechanical, Piping and Plate work construction)
Ability to compile Method statement and Risk Assessment

Ability to conduct Rigging Study
Piping Installation experience will be advantageous
Reading and interpretation of engineering drawings

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF4)

Section 13 Trade Certificate or Sect 26 or 28 with modules
Valid Medical certificate of Fitness (BMI less than 30) / must be able to pass the medical
Valid First aid Certificate
Computer literacy (MS Project, Bisight Viewer, AutoCAD Viewer)
Good communication skills in English
Able to solve problems within agreed standards, policies, and procedures.
Team leadership and management skills
Sound listening communication skills.
Self-motivated self-starter with high levels of initiative
Able to make decisions within agreed parameters.
Tertiary qualification in BSC construction management and or BTech Building Science will be
advantageous

R750K - R1Million CTC Per Annum
