Lesson Learned in the SY 2020 – 2021 and Targets for SY 2021 – 2022

Overcoming all the obstacles and challenges of the S.Y. 2020-2021 is one of the

greatest achievements of the Department of Education most especially for the teachers

and the learners. This school year was definitely the year of experimentation as all

stakeholders of the schools were adapting to the new normal learning. The country is

blessed to have teachers who have the willingness to do everything to provide the

needed knowledge of the learners to the point that even the elderly teachers embraced

the technology to reach out for the learners. As the school year ends, several lessons

and experiences were achieved that will surely serve as a guide as the new school year

is about to start.

Knowledge. It is with the help of the Department of Education through its

NEAP LDM course 1 and 2 which equipped all the teachers and school heads with

enough ideas and insights on how to handle different situations during the distance

learning. Also, this somehow helped on analyzing the teaching modality to be used and

give a brief concept of the process of new normal learning. With all the changes that all

teachers need to embrace and sees them as an opportunity to grow professionally,

technology has been their companion on dealing with these. Technology served as the

companion of the teachers especially the use of social media platforms to get connected

with the learners and parents, it also allows teachers to conduct a teaching and learning

process even at the safety of their homes. Another big help of the advanced science

that we have is that, teachers are also capable of developing and improving their ability
and skills in teaching by attending several webinars that enriched them with more

learning that they can use in teaching.

Attitude. With all the negativity that surrounds the community, it is necessary

to look for the beauty of life and look forward for a better tomorrow. Considering all

challenges and obstacle as an opportunity will greatly affect the performance of the

learners and the teachers is a great start to make all the adjustments easier. Our battle

against this unseen opponent is very far from over which push all the people to start

embracing the new normal in all aspects of living. Complaining with the current

situation will never help, complying does. It is in this trying time that everyone is up to

lift up each other, to boost the care and willingness to take part in the country’s

success, to help one another instead of blaming, and to love and respect the people

around us.

Health. As much as we care about our responsibilities, putting our own health

first is a must. Following the prescribed health protocols when going outside the house

and having a good and healthy lifestyle is needed mostly during this kind of crisis. Our

health should also be in our top priority in order for us to provide the best quality of

education that our learners deserve.

As dedicated individuals, we always do our task with our heart. As we go on with

the different changes, having an optimistic mindset and the knowledge as our weapons
can be a great step in achieving the goals that the department has set as they decided

to start the school year in the midst of pandemic.

Another school year is about to start and there is as additional bullet that we

have, our experiences from the previous school year, whether good or bad, which

absolutely will protect us from committing the same mistakes we committed during S.Y.

2020-2021. There is a bigger hope for us and for the learners as well that with great

cooperation, we can surpass everything.

We must put in mind how we start and why we pursue education regardless of

the situation we are in. Always keep in mind that as nurses and doctors keep fighting to

stop Covid-19, it is our duty to educate young minds to stop ignorance that will remove

criticism, stereotypes, racist and bullies in the society which have been the sickness of

our community even before this pandemic.

We should always remember that nothing can stop us from education and

molding young minds, not even this pandemic. Let’s strive harder as we collect more

and more experiences that will eventually developed us into our better selves.
