MESSAGE

My warmest greetings to the school officials,

administrators, faculty members and advisers, teachers,
parents, and guardians of the graduates and completers of
the School Year 2021-2022!

On behalf of the Department of Education (DepEd), I am

proud to celebrate the success, milestones, and
achievement of this batch’s graduates and promoted
students in this year’s End-of-School-Year rites with the
theme “K to 12 Graduates: Pursuing Dreams and Fostering
Resilience in the Face of Adversity.”

In the past six years, we committed to our mandate to enhance the quality of education,
broaden its access, and ensure its relevance in the rapidly changing world.
DepEd endeavored to address its challenging by instituting programs and reforms in the
Department. We have fully implemented the K to 12 curriculum and the aggressive
reforms of Sulong EduKalidad to produce globally competitive learners and teachers. We
also expanded our mission for accessible education by strengthening the Alternative
Learning System (ALS) and the Last Mile Schools programs to reach more Filipinos.
Likewise, we also established the National Academy of Sports (NAS) and Education
Futures Unit to create more opportunities for our learners and anticipate the future of the
education system in the country.

Committed to sustaining this momentum, the Department developed and implemented

the Basic Education-Learning Continuity Program (BE-LCP), where we offered various
learning modalities and produced award-winning initiatives such as DepEd TV and DepEd
Commons at the height of pandemic. Eventually, the Department held its ground against
unprecedented challenge in basic education as we progressively expand the
reintroduction of face-to-face classes in the country.

Indeed, education is truly a shared responsibility. This is why we express our utmost
appreciation to our dear parents and teachers for being our partners in nurturing the
youth throughout the years.
To the Class of 2022, resiliencies in your blood. You have survived one of the toughest
times in human history, yet still embraced education as your primary tool

to success. I believe that with your passion and purpose, you can reach your dreams and
change the world.
May you keep on harnessing and imparting wisdom as together, we will build a nation of
competent global citizens and future leaders.

MESSAGE

Congratulations, Batch 2022 senior high school

graduates! Your battle for your future has just begun.

The more than two years of struggle against a global

health crisis has been of the toughest yet, the most

rewarding years we have had. This year has presented

numerous challenges above and beyond those that the

education sector typically provides. Despite it all you

have all persevered and proven yourselves through hard work, dedication to your own

education, and support of your family and loved ones. You have worked hard to finish your

basic education. It has been an honor to see you grow personally while pursuing your basic

education. Thank you for giving DepEd the opportunity to be part of your journey. This

year’s theme: K-12 graduates: Pursuing dreams and fostering resilience in the face of

adversity, resonates the truth that no pandemic could stop us from achieving greatness.

Your graduation is a huge step towards achieving your dreams. Your basic education is

your foundation of life-long learning and that there is always an opportunity to improve

your knowledge and skills. The road you will traverse is full of peaks and valleys.

Challenges are inevitable but I am certain that you will overcome them all.

With your graduation today, you have proven that no pandemic would break your

dreams and that you are invincible no matter what life throws at you. I am so proud of

you! To the partners and our dear teachers - you have done a great job in preparing the

future of our Filipino learners despite the unprecedented challenges brought about by the

current health crisis. Dear graduates, you have come this far, worked hard, and achieved

your goal. Now go out there and make your mark as you either continue your tertiary

education or pursue a career. I can’t wait to see where life will take you next. Wherever it

is, our prayers will go with you. Again, my warmest congratulations.

COMPLETION & GRADUATION RITES
SCHOOL YEAR 2021-2022

On behalf of the Department of Education, Ormoc

City Division, I would like to extend my warmest greetings
and profound congratulations to all the completers and
graduates along with their parents, the faculty, the school
officials, and staff who made this Completion and
Commencement Ceremonies for the School Year 2021-
2022 a resounding success.

Congratulations! There is victory in all schools

today because we harmoniously exemplified our collective
fortitude and perseverance – the shared sacrifices,
commitment, and resistance against the unprecedented
global intervening circumstances in the education system
amidst the pandemic. This is the spirit of resilience that we
continue to live by. We have been pressured and
troubled by our fears to the point of indecision but we keep on bouncing back the best we
could to make both ends meet in providing quality, accessible, relevant, and liberating basic
education for all our school children. And thank God! Together with their parents, our completers
and graduates have remarkably demonstrated the similitude of resilience that we are all
embracing together.

Indeed, we are celebrating today the living testimonials of our purpose-driven

determination, enduring courage, and unchanging faith to go beyond any crisis. We survive
because we truly value education as life
itself. This year’s theme: “K to 12 Graduates: Pursuing Dreams and Fostering Resilience in
the Face of Adversity,” continuously reminds us that there are circumstances beyond our
control. But, even so, despite the crisis, we continue to capitalize on our strengths and all other
resources to keep education at the forefront of the learners’ safety and survival. With this, we
thank the unwavering support of the parents, the community stakeholders, the local
government units at all levels, and the health workers with whom we have been working well in
building up the spirit of resiliency.

To our completers and graduates, go on! You are ready to overcome new challenges
because your remarkable achievement today signifies not only the knowledge and skills that
you have acquired but also the utmost flexibility and adaptability that you have earned and
broadened to withstand the crisis that life may further bring. The printed modules and the
online lectures may be forgotten, but all the meaningful learning experiences imbued with your
positive mindset and good dispositions will continue to build your future even beyond your
dreams.

To all the teachers, school leaders, and staff, together, we are sailing forward in the new
normal. Here, we come successfully, beaming with smiles for the honor and gratification that
God’s sustaining grace has brought us to this glorious victory. To God be the highest glory!

GRADUATION MESSAGE FOR CLASS 2021-2022

Congratulations to the graduates of Batch 2021-2022!

Graduation is one of the pinnacles of achievements and success
that we are so proud of, even during normal circumstances.
However, as we know, the past two years have been the furthest
from normal times. That is why, I salute the graduates for rising
above the challenges of the pandemic and emerging triumphant.

Inside the whirlpool of difficulty and adversity, we seek the

comforts of normalcy. When we have to go through drastic
changes just to continue our education. When we have to open our
minds to different ways of doing things. When we have to adjust
to the fact that we are powerless over events that have overcome
the entire world—we cannot help but think about how much
easier life was before the pandemic.

Sometimes we find ourselves dreaming about how things were

back in 2019—how much easier life was. Face to face classes were
the norm. We were free to go anywhere we pleased, and people
gave strange looks at anyone wearing a face mask. The economy was in full swing, and seeing
parents lose jobs or businesses was uncommon. And when we sneezed, caught the cold or
developed fever, we somehow knew that with rest, fluids and some basic medicines, we would
feel better in a few days. Then, these factors were not causes to be fearful.

There is no doubt that the pandemic has challenged us, battered us. But because of this, it has
also molded us, just like how high heat could mold a gold nugget into a beautiful piece of jewelry.
Definitely, adversity is tough. But adversity could also be our ally—- if we allow it to change us
and transform us into better versions of ourselves. Many of us are probably not conscious, that
as pandemic survivors, we have emerged stronger, wiser, perhaps more compassionate and
kinder to ourselves and to our family. We have emerged with a different perspective of what is
valuable in life. We have learned to be more patient, more humble and more resilient—better
able to deal with life not going as we planned.

Now we stand at the edge of our world finally overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 virus.
We cannot really say that we defeated COVID; instead, it is now possible to see a future wherein
we could live with it. And this future, will still not be the same as our pre-pandemic reality. So
what does this mean for our graduates?

This means that the skills you learned and attitudes that you developed in order to survive, excel,
and succeed despite the challenges of the pandemic—are the most important qualities that will
be needed to bring our country to the post pandemic world. Graduates of Batch 2021-22, you are
what we need for us to forge a new future for our country! Congratulations! I am very proud of
you! May God bless you all.

GRADUATION MESSAGE TO CLASS 2021-2022

Greetings and my warmest congratulations to DEPED-

Ormoc City Division in producing more future leaders of the
City of Beautiful People and our country!

It is always a great joy when our children accomplish

much in their studies. The academic journey that they have
endured will never be in vain. This is actually a preparation to
face bigger and more worthwhile challenges that will surely
come later in life. Your theme: "K to 12: Graduates: Pursuing
Dreams and Fostering Resilience in the Face of Adversity" is
very timely because of the delays, inconvenience and life-
changing experience the Covid-19 pandemic has wrought to
the world. To remember, the ordeal that our dear teachers and
students have braved gave witness to their resilience and
their unwavering desire to pursue educations and their
dreams despite great challenges. I can readily say that I am so proud of all of you. Nothing
could describe the joy and the pride that I am feeling, knowing that we walked hand-in
hand in life.

To our dear teachers, never waver in your noble task of educating our students.
Always go back to the moment you have decided to accept the challenge in shaping the
future generation. Keep them always in your hearts and minds and acknowledge that
your students are now part of your lives, companions with all of you as their guides.
Without you, dear teachers, we would be nothing.

To our dear students, dream high! I know that studying is tiring and will always
wear you down. However, the best rewards of life are only for the hardworking and the
faithful. Never give up in your studies and always put to mind your dreams and
aspirations for yourself and your family. Put your mind to your dreams and you will
achieve anything. Follow the guidance of your teachers and learn from them the wisdom
of perseverance and ambition.

With this, it is my earnest prayer that DEPED will continue to prepare our children for life.

HON. RICHARD l. GOMEZ

Ormoc City Mayor

COMMENCEMENT MESSAGE 2022

My respect to the City Mayor, Mayor Richard I. Gomez, City Vice Mayor,
"Toto" Locsin, Jr., and to the 15th Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Ormoc; to
DepEd officials especially to Dr. Marilyn B. Siao, DepEd Ormoc SDS, and the
rest of the family of DepEd Ormoc City Division, teachers, students, parents,
guests, ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant day to everyone!
I wish to express my sincere appreciation to DepEd Ormoc City Schools
Division for extending your invitation for me to deliver my message. The
previous years have been challenging to so many people to say the least.
However, despite the troubles brought by the pandemic we remain resilient.
It is inspiring to witness that the empty streets and schools in the previous
years is now filled with children's laughter and buzzing sounds of students.
Although we have not completely defeated the virus, we are winning the
fight. Our presence today is the living memento of our glorious battle against
COVID-19. Your bravery is your unique brand of steadfast courage in the face
of adversity. Indeed, I am delighted to witness positive developments of our community especially to the education
sector.

In occasions like this, I cannot help but recall my childhood and when I was in elementary school. It made me
confident to stand before you knowing how education transformed my life from no one to who I am today. I should
tell you that everything started with a DREAM. So, I want to CHALLENGE all of you TO DREAM and be passionate in
making your dreams real. Magsugod gyud ang tanan sa usa ka pangandoy. Ug kining pangandoy apilan gayud ug
pangaliya ug pagkugi. Kay ang damgo magpabilin nga usa ka damgo ug kini mapapas lamang kung walay lihok nga
mahitabo.
In this very' challenging era, we witness everything changes at rapid speed. Where survival is at stake because of the
COVID 19 Pandemic, numerous technological advances shaped the way we do things. And what better tool to use —
and what better armor to equip yourself with - than EDUCATION.
How important is education today? There is no doubt that education today is crucial as it was 20 or more years ago.
But where lies the difference. Makita natu daku na kaayo ang kalainan sa among sitwasyon sa unang panahon ug ang
inyung sitwasyon karon.
The world today has evolved into making everything easier, more convenient, and more comfortable. Salamat kaayo
sa information technology. IT made possible what could have been devastated by the greatest challenge in the world
today — the COVID 19 Pandemic. The strict protocols and regulations that crippled so many opportunities including
education have been tempered because of information technology that enabled our children to continue their
schooling. In the absence of face-to-face classes, the online platform takes its way to make life continue. At this time,
you are already more knowledgeable and confident in managing your lives under this era of civilization and
digitalization. Information technology has created a new culture and a new environment. You now have more
opportunities before you -- to grow in knowledge, to learn new skills, to meet more friends and people of various
cultures, among others. Today, it is so easy to study via schools and universities abroad because of so many
scholarship opportunities and with schools very accessible via online and with classes conducted on line.
But we should not be blind to the dangers and risks of the current circumstances you are in. These dangers are not
only many but they may also be tricky. Computer Age has made our lives comfortable and convenient but we see the
rise of cyber crimes such as on-line piracy, internet libel, cybersex and online pornography. Social skills and
interpersonal relationships are compromised — we talk in chatrooms, express emotions in text messages, spend time
with facebook friends instead of our family. Many of our young people are trapped in what we call the culture of
"instant" where comfort and convenience became the priority over hardwork and discipline.
My dear graduates, how should you proceed from here? What do we do to avoid the dangers and risks that are many
and tricky?
FIRST, pursue a wholistic and balanced formation. You go to school not just to develop your academic capacity but
your whole personality. Pleasing personality, a very popular qualification in seeking jobs, does not only pertain to
academic standing. It means psychological, social, emotional, physical, political and spiritual development. Therefore,
Study hard and diligently but also get involved. Take care of your mental and emotional health and well-being. At this
era of digitalization, balanced formation also means pursuing academic goals without losing our identity as human
beings and realizing that persons are social beings —and our potentials are best uncovered by social interactions and
our ability to relate to others.
SECOND, always remember that education is not value free. Whatever field you will choose later on — health
sciences, education, agriculture, engineering, etc. — you should always realize that at the end of the day, you are still
human beings. Being a lawyer or a doctor does not give us the license to cheat, to take advantage of our neighbors,
to abuse other people's goodness - especially those who are poor or who do not have the same opportunities we do.
On the contrary, when we are educated and learned the more it is incumbent upon us to live out good values
generosity, charity, perseverance, love for country. Only this way, can we stop and curtail the evils that are prevalent
in society today.
You have to grow in your spirituality and always look for God as reference point. As you educate yourselves, learn
how to cultivate a deep sense of family and a healthy family life where everyone feels the love, grow in their love for
others and where they grow in virtues especially peace, rule of law and work. The goal of education is to empower
oneself, to gain confidence, grow in maturity and be shaped by discipline. Your experiences in school should be able
to equip you to face the bigger world — to enhance and develop your gifts and potentials so that Not only are you
assured of a bigger and brighter future for yourself but become better ORMOCANON — bringing glory to Ormoc and
a brighter future for society, for our country and the world.
THIRD, education should be able to foster and grow the spirit and perspective and disposition of Creativity,
Productivity, and Leadership. Our education should be able to change our mindset and inspire us to initiate and affect
change, people who create new structures and new enterprises, people who employ and more importantly lead and
manage people. Change the mindset. Not just to become good follower but to be good initiators. Good leaders.
As I conclude my commencement message, I wish to quote Lev Tolstoy who once said: "Everyone thinks of changing
the world, but no one thinks, of changing themselves." The best way to conquer all fears, anxiety and face the world
with ease, confidence, and determination, we have to change our ways, our thoughts, and our actions for the better.
Never be afraid to change and improve yourselves because that is the reason why we go to school. We want to learn.
We want to grow. We want to prosper. Always remember that being resilient and being versatile start with ability to
embrace changes and ability to adjust and adapt to any given situation.
Let your education bring all of you to a future nation where everyone and their families are not constrained by poverty
but lives in all freedom and responsibility. Indeed, learning is a gift and let this gift be shared and blossom into a
strong Filipino nation.
What did I say at the beginning? DREAM...DREAM...DREAM. As a Jesuit priest says: Pumalaot ka! Go! Go further! Go
for more! Aim high Graduates! fly high Graduates! Congratulations!

I've been to so many moments in my life

You took me in your arms
When I can't find anyone to turn to
And you rescued me from the dark
But you, only you, always you
And now I'm finally home (I'm finally
And when all that surround me are fallin'
home)
You will remain there standing
I feel safe 'cause now I'm with you
Just for me, always you, only you
'Cause you are my life (my life)
In my weakest times you were so strong
You are my strength (my strength)
(you were so strong)
I can't fight the battle alone
When all hope is gone you carry on (you
I can make it through when I'm with you
carry on)
'Cause you are my shield (my shield)
I draw my strength from you
You are my soul (my soul)
When I could no longer find any of it in
You're breathing life into my heart

All the love that I have comes from you
