L.O 4.45 Divide a whole number by a 2 digit number using long division.

Objectives: After learning long division, students will be able to solve long division with two digit divisor.

Content and one example:

Long Division is a method used for dividing large numbers into groups or parts.
Long division helps in breaking the division problem into a sequence of easier steps. Just like all division
problems, a large number, which is the dividend, is divided by another number, which is called the divisor, to
give a result called the quotient and sometimes a remainder.

DAY 3
L.O 4.46 Express natural numbers as products of their prime factors.

Objectives: using a factor tree ,students will be able to express a natural number as a product of prime
factorization.

Content and one example:

Natural Numbers: are counting numbers, positive integers beginning with 1 and increasing by 1 forever. 0
is not a natural number.

Prime numbers are numbers that have only 2 factors: 1 and themselves. For example, the first 5 prime
numbers are 2, 3, 5, 7, and 11

Prime factorization of a number is breaking a number down into the set of prime numbers which multiply
together to result in the original number.

Example 1: What are the prime factors of 12 ?

It is best to start working from the smallest prime number, which is 2, so let's check:
12 ÷ 2 = 6
Yes, it divided exactly by 2. We have taken the first step!
But 6 is not a prime number, so we need to go further. Let's try 2 again:
6÷2=3
Yes, that worked also. And 3 is a prime number, so we have the answer:
12 = 2 × 2 × 3

Factor Tree
And a "Factor Tree" can help: find any factors of the number, then the factors of those numbers, etc, until
we can't factor any more.

LO. 46.1  Explain how Belize's borders were set, including the importance of the 1859 Anglo-Guatemala Treaty and the
1893 Treaty with Mexico.

Objective:. students will be able to explain how Belize’s borders were set using the reference to the Anglo
Guatemala Treaty and the Treaty with Mexico.

Content

The Belize–Mexico Treaty is an international border between Belize and Mexico. It is 250 km (160 mi) long and almost

exclusively follows the course of the Hondo River. It separates Belize from the Mexican states of Quintana
Roo and Campeche. The modern boundary was agreed to in 1893, and finalized in 1897 as follows:

Under the treaty, the border starts at Boca Bacalar Chico, a narrow channel that separates the southern tip of the
Caribbean coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and Ambergris Caye. It then runs through Chetumal Bay in a broken line up
to the mouth of the Hondo River. The border follows the Hondo River through its deepest channel and then along its
tributary, Blue Creek, until it reaches the meridian of Garbutt's Falls (approximately 89° 9' W). From this point, it runs
directly south to 17° 49' N latitude, the border established between Mexico and Guatemala.

Instructions:
1. After reading the information above, answer
the questions that follow.
2. Using the answers given compose a
paragraph briefly explaining how Belize’s
borders were set .

ANSWERS OF THE QUESTIONS.
