Life. When you are in the field of nursing, you are handling life. Mistake is out of the
story when you are inside this field. In every action that you take either good or bad, someone’s
life is at stake. Your hand is powerful. It gives life to those dead and hope to the people who are
discourage. Your hand is powerful to the point that it can also take someone else’s life. Every
decision that you will be making must be a hundred percent sure or else someone will suffer.
Imagine the situation when you have to assist a mother that is going to deliver a baby. There are
a lot of things to consider when you are at this situation. If you lack knowledge at this point, two
lives could be put in danger.
Many people will rely on you. You should be strong physically and mentally. In nursing,
you should practice selflessness because it is not about yourself. It’s about your client/patient
that you will be handling. You should learn how to set aside your personal life for the sake of
your patient. Your personal life and work must not put together because it could cause chaos. All
your problems must be left in your home and never take it with you in your duty.
Being a nurse and pursuing this line of work is a great decision to make. There will be a time
that you need to let go and sacrifice something or someone for other people. It requires a most of
your time and energy. “A nurse is the one who opens the eyes of a newborn and gently closes the
eyes of a dying man. It is indeed a high blessing to be the first and last to witness the beginning
and end of life” – unknown.
