SENSOR NETWORKS

DIGITAL ASSIGNMENT – 1

Choose a real-world problem as an application of a Sensor Network and provide a solution

to it. The assessment is evaluated based on the following:
1. Ability to comprehend the Sensor Networks to solve the problem [problem statement
with a detailed survey]
2. Build a Sensor node and network architecture
3. Implement/ Simulate the proposed model and analyse the performance of the model.

Real world Application

Monitoring of patients using WSN

Problem Statement
These days due to slow alter in climate and due over the top contamination human health
issue is a genuine hazard. Consequently, it is imperative to screen human wellbeing in real-
time and inform the change in patient's wellbeing, particularly for patients enduring
diseases. So to illuminate this issue a framework has been proposed. The proposed system
has an Implanted ARM microcontroller associated with a set of therapeutic sensors (related
to the persistent case) and a remote communication module (GSM). Each patient is
considered as a hub in a remote sensor arrange and associated with a central hub
introduced at the restorative centre through a web association. The embedded ARM
microcontroller checks on the off chance that the quiet wellbeing status is going well or not
by examining the filter restorative signals. On the off chance that the examination comes
about is irregular, the embedded unit employments the patient's phone to transmit these
signals specifically to the medical centre. In this case, the specialist will send therapeutic
counsel to the quiet to spare

Performance analysis
Model has been simulated by using by Proteus Software to monitor the human health using
different sensors. The change in body temperature, Breath rate, Blood Pressure and Heart
beat will be detected by respective sensors can be determined. The availability of low-cost
single-chip microcontrollers, and advances in wireless communication technology has
encouraged engineers to design low-cost embedded systems for healthcare monitoring
applications. Such systems have ability to process real-time signals generated from bio
sensors and transmit the measured signals through the patient's phone to the medical
centre's server.

Conclusion
This patient monitoring system can monitor multiple patient parameters simultaneously in
an indoor scenario. Experimentation was carried out by taking blood pressure readings of
multiple patients .This system is so efficient, easy to use and handle and hence can be
employed in hospitals. To obtain multiple monitored patients health statuses and values,
doctors or nurses can login to a central server. It helps in ease of diagnosis. System also
maintains the comfort to the patient as they will no longer need the traditional monitoring
tools of wires and instrumentation. Wireless communication employed also enables rapid
data transfer offering immediate real-time results in a critical situation for multiple patients.
