AIR POLLUTION

For the time being, our country has been

battling against into different kinds of pollutions, in
which causing our environment a very polluted area. Figure 1.
The water and air pollution is the most that contributes
into the destruction of our environment. Area with the
most numbers of vehicles and people were the most
affected ones.

Referring to the figure beside, in which I have

cited into a news page, it is said that in the recent
celebration of new year, air pollution level in the areas
of Manila and Marikina rocketed above its standard
level.

Air Pollution is the contamination of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical or
biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere. It is said that in the areas that were
mentioned earlier, it has exceeded the safe standard level during the first few hours of 2022. The department’s
Environmental Management Bureau showed that air pollution levels in both cities went beyond the standard level
of the safe air pollution level. It seems that to much chemicals were blended into the air, smoke coming from the
vehicles and firecrackers and chemical particles coming from the fireworks were the most which contributed to
the pollution.

As we all know air pollution is consists of particles or chemicals that can harm the health of humans,
animals and plants. There are so many things that causes air pollution, but there are much more ways on how to
fight and deal with it. We cannot really avoid it now but you can be the one to deal against it, anyone can take
steps to reduce air pollution and its harmful effects on humans and on environment.l

In addition, it is shown in figures two and three the difference between the surface of Metro Manila in the
past year and now during the time of the pandemic. As we can see, it is clearly seen that the skyline of Metro
Manila is back as the air quality of the area has improved amidst of the pandemic. The limited number of vehicles
and people who are allowed to go outside has contributed a lot to the improvement of the air level of Metro
Manila. Does the pandemic really contributed to our fight against air pollution or it also somehow contributed to
other aspects of pollution?
WATER POLLUTION

Philippine Environment Monitor says that with

the rapid increase in population, urbanization, and Figure 1.
industrialization it reduce the quality of Philippine
waters, especially in densely populated areas and
regions of industrial and agricultural activities. The
discharge of domestic and industrial waste water and
agricultural runoff has caused extensive pollution of
the receiving water-bodies. This effluent is in the form
of raw sewage, detergents, fertilizer, heavy metals,
chemical products, oils, and even solid waste. Each of
these pollutants has a different noxious effect that
influences human livelihood and translates into
economic costs.

As we can see on the figure one, it shows the current and latest state of water in different bodies of
water in our country. As stated on the introduction, because of the rapid population and more different
factors that affects the water in our country it has reduced its quality. Many studies showed that this
problem is caused mostly by humans, the irresponsible disposal of garbage and the insufficient knowledge
of humans were the mere cause of this problem.

The figures two and three clearly shows that the body of water was almost occupied by trashes.
This really shows how irresponsible humans are, they are being irresponsible without knowing that these
trashes that they throw everywhere will someday be backed to them in the most unexpected time.

This kind of problem can really be avoided, all of us must be fully aware and knowledgeable about
its caused and of course its effect to us and to the environment. If it can really not be avoided we can just
do things that will improve it. The environment has its responsibilities to us and for the long time we
benefited to it and we continues to benefit, it is our time now to make the best things that we can do to
protect our environment.
 During the discussion about my report with my family, I got some really important take aways. The
discussion was really fun, it was very inter active. My family give their own opinion and insights about my
report which really gives me some new learnings and realizations. All of is really relate some points about
my report in which they also observed in the environment. In this interactive discussion, I have learned a lot
and figured out the message and realizations that “ Every little and bug things start in homes and with our
family.” This message and realization of mine just simply means that we learn things at home and with our
family first and as we learn things, we also tend to know our own responsibilities that also starts at our
homes. What we do in our homes must also be applied in our society as well as in our environment. Protect
our environment as well as how we protect our family.
