Review Contract Plans, Specs.and Standard Sheets for SIGNS (Sections 644, 645, 646 & 647).
Review Pay Items in Contract for SIGNS - (Overhead Structures, New Signs, Removals).
Study Tables in Plans for all sign removals and installations.
Determine locations in Plans and on Site for all signs. Look for obstructions, interferences, etc.

Review the NYSDOT Standard Sheets 645-01 thru 645-14 and 646-11 thru 646-16. You can

Become familiar with; NYSDOT Standard Specification Sections 644 - OVERHEAD SIGN

If a crane is used for lifting, check for a valid crane operator's license and attach copy to DWR

Review Shop Drawings and check for acceptance by DOT (644-3.01).

Check for pole markings (Sign Structure ID No.) white on green 12" X 6"on Posts (644-3.01).

Check Hi-Strength Bolt tightening as per NYS Steel Constr.Manual, Table 1001.5b (644-3.02F).
Review Lifting Plan and check for acceptance by DOT (644-3.06C).
Conduct visual inspection of sign components (644-3.06D).
Check Anchor Bolt placement and tightening as per Table 644-2 (644-3.06E).
Check Type A posts in final location for number and strength as per Table 645-1 (645-3.03).
Check Type B posts in final location for number and strength as per Table 645-1 (645-3.04).

Check Type B breakaway bases and hinge assemblies as per Standard Sheets (645-3.04B).
Check sign panel installations for bearing pad separations to prevent corrosion (645-3.02).
Check installation interval for reference markers (161m =1/10th mile) (646-3.02). Verify locations
and offsets with the Project Design Manager
Check delineator installations for pad separations to prevent corrosion (646-2.06).
Inspect delineator installations during day for proper location, line and grade (646-3.04).
Inspect delineator installations during night for proper orientation and reflection (646-3.04).
Check that all concrete sign footings removed are cut to 1' below ground surface (647-3.03).
Check existing signs during relocation to prevent damage to panels (647-3.04).
