Module 1: Coaching Assignments

Question 1:

What have you learned about yourself and your classmates (especially those in your peer
mentoring group) based on the still life assignment?

Please write at least 200 words and include all elements of the DART rubric: Description,
Analysis, Reflection, and Takeaway.

Your answer:

Description: I have learned a lot about how great leaders get involved with others in the
organization. Based on the still life introduction, my classmates still learn how to nurture
their growth mindset and build their credibility and trust at the same time so they can
become the better version of themselves in the future. In my own thoughts, I have
introduced myself to my classmates that I would like to take advice from them and learn
how to behave professionally and personally in a purposeful way. As a matter of fact, We
all want to be leaders with honesty, competence, inspiration, and forward-motivation. We
have to clarify our visions and reach our goals with great confidence.

Analysis: I have a feeling that we have to show our integrity and honesty toward other
team members so they are able to show us respect and dignity. Furthermore, it is not
about personality but it is imperative for us to behave professionally and build our
interpersonal and relationship skills. For example, Kouzes states that “being regarded as
honest is essential if a leader is to model the way. The leadership practice of Inspire the
Shared Vision requires being forward-looking and inspiring. When the leaders Challenge
the Process, they also enhance the perception that they’re dynamic. Trustworthiness,
often a synonym for honesty, plays a major role in how leaders Enable Others to Act, as
does the leader’s own competency. Leaders who recognize and celebrate significant
contributions and accomplishments - who Encourage the Heart - increase their
constituents’ understanding of and commitment to the vision and values” (Kouzes, p.31,
2017).

Reflection or Sense Making: I believe that it is very important to me that I have to learn
how to face the challenges and correct the action as a great leaders. In my own thoughts, I
have to take a chance to shift from interests to positions that everyone can get involved as
a team so we have to collaborate and share our ideas constructively. This is how we are
more interdependent to share our objective goals and improve our higher standard of
excellence.

Takeaway or Action: I have a new understanding that behavior and collaboration are the
keys that bring great success because I have to show them that I can be a great role model
and better myself. It is essential that I have to prepare myself to coach them as a great
leader and give them positive feedback. Sometimes I have to adjust them to better
themselves as human beings.

Question 2:

What are your initial expectations and/or reservations about your future coaching
relationships?

Please write at least 100 words and include all elements of the DART rubric: Description,
Analysis, Reflection, and Takeaway.

Your answer:

Description: My goal is to help them improve their life changing situations. There is
something that they can clarify their visions and reach their goals in the future. It is very
important to focus on their behavior changing and honest relationships so they can better
understand what leadership means to them.

Analysis: It is very crucial for us to understand what our values would like in the future.
We make sure that we have a positive attitude and learn how to develop our happiness
and well being with others as well. Kouzes identifies that “ when people perceive their
immediate manager to have high credibility” (Kouzes, p. 40-41, 2017). We are able to
build our team spirit and take our chance to commit to others in the future.

Reflection or Sense-making: We can learn how to manage our emotional intelligence

and apply for knowledge and information at the same time. Furthermore, we learn how to
avoid groupthink and work fairly and cohesively.

Takeaway or action: I will be able to break down the structure and lead my team to the
table. I am going to encourage them to foster their creativity and innovation and prosper
in the organization. I just want to make sure that we are working together as a team and
build our trust and credibility.
Question 3:

What do you expect to gain from these relationships, and what do you expect to
contribute to your peers?

Please write at least 100 words and include all elements of the DART rubric: Description,
Analysis, Reflection, and Takeaway.

Your answer:

Description: I can learn how to build great work relationships with my team, workers
and others in life. It is very important to have different skills including communication,
people skills, active listening, appreciating others and developing our emotional
intelligence.

Analysis: We have to keep learning how to manage our emotional intelligence and taking
advantage of opportunities. I have to be more open and ask the right questions with
respect and dignity. Also, I have to be a good listener.

Reflection or Sense Making: It is very crucial for me to develop my interpersonal and

communication skills that I can achieve in the organization. I am not trying to be more
aggressive as a leader to push myself to the limits. I like to be very assertive and polite
with the team and face our challenges to achieve our success.

Takeaway or Action: I have to encourage the team to follow their hearts so we are able
to get our things done by showing our respect and appreciation. As a matter of fact,
Kouzes states that being a leader requires showing appreciation for people’s contributions
and creating a culture of celebrating the values and victories by creating a spirit of
community” (Kouzes, p. 16, 2017).
