How do you write an argumentative essay?
According to Purdue University College of LIberal Arts, an argumentative essay is a
genre of writing that requires the writer to investigate a topic: collect, generate, and evaluate
evidence and establish a position on the topic in a concise manner.

As for its structure, an argumentative essay should have a clear, concise, and defined
thesis statement that occurs in the first paragraph of the essay. The author should explain why
the topic is important. The author should create clear and logical transitions between the
introduction, the body, and the conclusion.

For the body of the essay, the author must situate that each paragraph should be limited
to the discussion of one general idea. This will allow for clarity and direction throughout the
essay. The author should provide evidential support- factual, logical, statistical, or anecdotal.

And lastly for the conclusion, the author must synthesize the information presented in
the body of the essay. Restate why the topic is important, review the main points, and review
your thesis.

Man’s Short Life and Foolish Ambition

Humans that live on this on this Earth only survive a mere fraction of the life the Earth
lives, yet our mindset is focused on our society. We tend to dwell on materialistic things like
bigger houses, mansions, almost anything that his wealth can buy.

We tend to oversee the present by caring too much on the future and our life’s ambitions
that we forget to steady our gaze and take a break for a while. We may have the wealth and the

power, but we also must not forget that this is just a borrowed life and God can take it whenever
He likes.

We dream of leaving our loved ones a good life, one where they don’t need to
experience the heavy work and burdens, we faced. We dream of leaving our wealth to them
because it’s an assurance that they will be okay in the future without us in the picture. But isn’t it
better if we try to live a meaningful life and leave a legacy no amount of money can surpassed?
A legacy of love to our family, neighbors, friends. A legacy of faith to our Almighty for giving us
blessings and for keeping our family safe. We should learnn to be contented and to never give
in to greed and ambitions.

Write a three-paragraph critique of “A Piece of String” by Guy de Maupassant.
Guy de Maupassant's "The Piece of String" is the story of Maitre Hauchecorne, an
innocent man who dies trying vainly to convince others of his innocence.

Maitre Hauchecorne saw a string and picked it up. Meanwhile, his rival, Maitre
Malandain, saw him. Hauchecorne was accused of the robbery of the wallet and was sent to the
mayor’s office. He defended himself although no one believed him. The wallet was returned by
another guy. The people thought of Hauchecorne was just trying to trick them through an
accomplice. Hauchecorne died in grief.

Maitre Hauchecorne's protestations upon first being accused are understandable, but
once the pocketbook is turned in, he should have let the matter rest at that. No doubt some
tongues would have wagged for a while. But he could have laughed it off, confident of his own
innocence. But he protests, and protests too much. And he won't let up; to the extent that
people make him repeat his story just for amusement. The more amused they seem, the more
intense his defence becomes. And so an innocent man dies guilty in the eyes of others.
