Guidelines for conduction of Remote Audit

Scope
This annexure details the complete guideline to conduct a remote audit by IHC. It is applicable in the
case of Surveillance & Recertification Audits.

Definitions

Remote Audit:
A remote audit is an off-site activity that is conducted by CAB’s approved auditors/experts using
different electronic means, and it includes a combination of the following techniques:
i) File/ records review
ii) Documents review
iii) Review of existing quality control
iv) Interviewing
v) Remote site visit (through ICT tools)

Virtual Site:
A virtual location where a client organization performs work or provides a service using an online
environment allowing persons irrespective of physical locations to execute processes.

Extraordinary Event or Circumstance:


An extraordinary event is such an event/incident that may temporarily prevent the CAB from carrying
out planned audits on-site. When these situations occur, CAB needs to establish a reasonable planned
course of action.
Such events include natural disasters, pandemics & unstable political conditions, etc. which will prevent
physical site visit by auditors/ experts

Procedure
1- Remote Audit is planned after communication with the client.

2- Date, time, and auditors are confirmed with the client. If the client shows any reservation

about any of the auditors; another auditor is assigned.

3- The client is briefed beforehand about documentary requirements and ICT tools to be required

during the Remote Audit.

4- The focal person/ Management Representative nominated from the client’s end will be

confirmed.

5- Top management and focal persons are informed to be available during opening and closing

meetings along with other instances where they are required.

6- The client is requested to submit the documents as required by the auditors.

7- Where required by the auditors; a representative assigned by the client will walk the auditors
through the facility using a video conference call.

8- The audit report is shared afterward by the auditor.

9- The client provides corrective actions if required.

10- The report is sent to the Decision-Making Committee.

11- The certificate is issued after approval of the Decision-Making Committee.

12- During this process of Remote Audit, all the guidelines given in SOP 8 for conduction of audit
will be followed except for the physical site visit.

13- All the documents will be prepared by the auditors/ experts. For example Audit Plan, Audit

Report, Attendance Sheet, etc.
