ASSEMBLY OF FITTINGS WITH


STRAIGHT THREADS AND O-RING SEALS

1. Put locknut (3 ), backup washer (4) and O-ring


seal (5) as far back on fitting body (2) as possible.
H old these com ponents in this position. Turn the
fitting into the part it is used on, until backup
washer (4) just m akes contact with the face o f the
part it is used on.

NOTE: If the fitting is a connector (straight fitting) or


plug, the hex on the body takes the place o f the locknut.
To install this type fitting tighten the hex against the
face o f the part it goes into.

2. T o put the fitting assem bly in its correct position


turn the fitting body (2) out (counterclockw ise) a
m axim um o f 359°. Tighten locknut (3) to the ELBOW BODY ASSEMBLY
torque show n in the chart. 1. End o f fittin g body (connects to tube). 2. Fitting

1. Fasten a dial indicator to the crankshaft flange so the anvil of the


indicator w ill touch the face o f the flyw heel housing.

2. Put a force on the crankshaft to w a rd the rear before reading the


indicator at each po in t.

3. W ith dial indicator set at .000 in. (0.00 m m) at location (A ), tu rn


the crankshaft and read the indicator at locations (B), (C) and (D).

4. The difference between lower and higher measurements taken at all


fo u r points must not be more than .008 in. (0.20 m m ), which is the
m axim um permissible face run o u t (axial e ccentricity) o f the
flyw heel housing.
