1. What is Religion?

- Religion is a very important facet of social existence. Modern-day laws, scientific pursuits, and
political practices emerged from early religious practices. In the Philippines, the Family Code is
influenced by Roman Catholicism's Canon Law. Religion is one of the earliest sources of social
truths ranging from arguments explaining the existence of the world to codes of conduct
governing individual existence.

2. How did Cristianity and Islam enable early Filipinios to experience Globalization?
- Globalization brings a culture of pluralism, meaning religions “with overlapping but distinctive ethics and
interests” interact with one another. Essentially, the world’s leading religious traditions—Hinduism, Buddhism,
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—teach values such as human dignity, equality, freedom, peace, and solidarity.
More specifically, religions maintain the Golden Rule: “what you do not wish done to yourself, do not do to
others.” Therefore, through such religious values, globalization engenders greater religious tolerance in such
areas as politics, economics, and society.

3. What were the negative and positive effects of cristianization and Islamization of the Philippines?
- Even after taking self-selection effects into account, interreligious friendships reduce negative attitudes
towards the religious out-group. However, casual interreligious contact increases negative out-group attitudes.
Also individuals who experienced interreligious violence have more negative out-group attitudes than those
without such experience. The experience of interreligious violence has no influence on the effect of
interreligious friendships but it further deteriorates the relationship between casual interreligious contact and
out-group attitudes. Perceived group threat is an important mechanism explaining the effects of both positive
and negative interreligious contact.

4. What is Global City?

- Global city, an urban centre that enjoys significant competitive advantages and that serves as a hub within a
globalized economic system. The term has its origins in research on cities carried out during the 1980s, which
examined the common characteristics of the world’s most important cities.

5. What are the characteristics of global city and what its attributes
- The characteristics of Global city are characterized by very specific attributes shared by wealthy and
politically powerful cities all over the world. These characteristics may have slight variations due to cultural
differences, but this is true for all global cities. The attributes of that existence of financial headquarters, a
stock exchange, and other major financial institutions. Domination of the trade and economy of a large
surrounding area.
