2.2.1 Power Supply
AC220V power supply socket: input AC220V

DC-48V socket/DC+24V socket: converter having power supply

polar auto-detect circuit, so DC-48V/DC+24V having no polar

distinguish, can random connect -48V/+24V and GND.

2.2.2 E1 Interface
E1 interface of this device provide 75Ω and 120Ω impedance.

Unbalance E1 (75Ω), and balance E1 (120Ω) switch button is on

the back panel.

Line type Switch status

120Ω unpressed

75Ω pressed

75Ω physical interface use BNC, RX for input, TX for output.

120Ω physical interface use RJ45.

2.2.3 V.35 port
DB25 socket used as V35 data port, the pins definition as follows:
DB25 pin Corresponding 34 pin

2 Send data A P
14 Send data B S
3 Receive data A R
16 Receive data B T

11 Send clock B(from DTE) W
15 Send clock A(from DCE) Y
12 Send clock B(from DCE) AA
17 Receive clock A(from DCE) V
9 Receive clock B(from DCE) X

Note:
When out of factory, having a straight through connector which can convert
DB25M to DB34F in the accessories, it can connect with DCE (such as router). When
need connect with DCE device (such as DDN V.35), can use cross over cable to
connect.

2.2.4 Loop back test switch button
4 switch buttons on the back panel, from left to right as follows:

 ANA: local loop of E1, used to test if local device and

connect wire is normal

Figure 5: ANA test button

 DIG: V.35 local loop back, used to test remote device and
E1 line.

Figure 6: DIG test button

 REM: let remote V.35 self loop back, only available when
using E1 line to send this command. Invalid in unframing

status (all time slot are used to transfer V.35 data) status.

Figure 7: REM test button

 PATT: pseudo random code test: generate pseudo random code to

V.35 input port, and test if the output signal of V.35 accord with

9
the standard. PTOK ON if accord, OFF if not accord.

When loop 1 opened local device can be detected if work normal;

when loop 2 opened and loop 1 closed E1 transfer line and both end

device can be detected if work normal.

Caution:

 Press any button of front panel will stop normal data

transmission, and shift to test mode.

 The connection should be a loop when in PATT mode, or no

return for the send pseudo random code.

2.3 Setting
8 DIP switches on the front panel used for clock setting, and

rate setting of V.35 and E1. (only DIP 1-3 available in

unframing )

DIP 3 is V.35 send clock phase inversion setting

DIP 3:Tclk.inv

 ON:V.35 receive clock phase inversion;

 OFF normal.

Note:
 Internal clock: use clock generated by internal crystal.

 External clock: get clock from V.35 data, usual used when

connecting DCE.

11
 Recovery clock: working clock from received E1 signal.

 When connecting DDN V.35, DDN V.35 set as DTE, clock

mode is the same as connecting router, clock mode use mode

1 or mode 2, not use cross over cable.

3 Installation Procedure

12
 Unpack, inspect the content carefully. Verify that all items are
included with your carton. Contact us or local agent if there is any
content missing or damaged.
 Check power supply configuration. Care about the value of
voltage if use DC input.
 Take following tests before usage:
 Check if all the loop back test switch buttons on back panel is
loosen, PWR and LOS should be ON, and all other LED
should be OFF.
 Choose a RJ45 port (Ethernet port), plug Ethernet cable, LINK
is ON. At the same time the LINK of device that connects with
Ethernet interface should be ON.
 If device works in framing status, LOS and LOF should both
ON.
 Press PATT button, TEST should be ON, PTOK should be
OFF. Then Press ANA button, PTOK ON and LOS OFF.
 If used with two ends, press PATT, and loose ANA, press DIG
or REM at remote, PTOK should be ON.
 If indicator LED works normal, unpress all switch on the back
panel and power off, set clock, plug E1 wires, then power on, the
device should work normally.
 If device does not work normally, please refer to chapter 4: trouble
shooting. Contact us or our local agent in time if the problem can’t
be solved.
4 Trouble shooting

13
When work normal, LINK, PWR, DATA ON, all other LED OFF.
Phenomenon Solution
1 PWR OFF Check if power supply connect ok
Loop back TX ( output ) and RX ( input ) ,if LED
2 LOS ON
OFF, check the E1 wire
E1 channel have problem, check it by PATT and REM
LOS OFF
3 Check if Remote device work in framing status, or work
LOF ON
in slave status (follow master)
Press ANA, if TXD and RXD flash, then remote device
TXD flash, but
4 have problem. Press DIG to loop back to remote to
RXD OFF
Check remote device.
Data transfer but If all devices set as recovery, then set one as master, or
5
having loss both as master.
All LED normal, Press DIG of remote device and PATT, if PTOK off, E1
6
but data not transfer channel has problem.
Note:How to check the device work normal?
(1) If press ANA on one device, and press PATT, PTOK ON, if unpress ANA,
PTOK OFF, then the device work normal.
(2) If press PATT, PTOK OFF, press DIG on remote device, PTOK ON, then
both devices and E1 works normal.
Caution:
1. TEST ON ( indicating there is button ON, which may stop normal data
communication)
2. When pseudo random code(PATT)test, loop must exist, otherwise the send
pseudo random code would not return.
