Prepositions of place

1. In is used for the largest or most general places.

Example: “For the best food, try the restaurants in Chinatown.

2. On: For more specific places, like certain streets, we use

the preposition on.

Example: "You may know that President Obama

lives on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C."

3. At: We get to the most specific places. For exact addresses

or intersections, we use the preposition at.
Example: "If I invited you to visit us here at VOA, I would
say, “Come to my office at 330 Independence Avenue.” To be
exact, it’s at the corner of Independence and 3rd Street.”
4. Into means to the inside of a place.
Example: Let's go into the garden.
5. To/for with the verb change:
To get off a train, bus, etc. and catch another in order to
continue a journey.
Example: Change at Peterborough for York.
6. After: Following in time, place, or order. (Further along
a road, railway etc.)
Examples: You turn right just after the pub.

We get off at the station after Newport

 7. Over : Above or higher than something else, sometimes so
that one thing covers the other; above

Example: The sign over the door said "Exit".

8. In front of: If someone or something is in front of a

particular thing, they are facing it, ahead of it, or close to
the front part of it. Example:
There was a woman in front of me in the bus queue who
was crying.
9. Around: in a position or direction surrounding.

Example: My mum put her arm around me.
