PIM Analysis:
Determine worst port from the m-pilots of B14 and B17 in all sectors. Start the PIM Mitigation from that
port
Pre described Naming format:
Siteid – Pre – Sector –Testing Antenna Band – Port Number – Test name
Examples:
1) NYL01177–Pre–A –B14–P1–SP
2)NYL01177–Pre–A –B17–P1–DTP
3) NYL01177–Pre–A –B17–P1–DTP – SW

Pre measurements:
B14 testing:
Go to high band frequency settings
Make sure temperature difference between Calibration (Cal) and Present (now) is 5 degrees or
less than 5, If it is not need to recalibrate the PIM master follow the above which determined in
the first two pages of this document.
Testing Port 1 of BAND 14
For B14: Connect B14 Port1 to high port (Jumper) From filter
For B17: Connect B17 Port1 to low port (Jumper) From filter
Before performing any test Run noise floor to time view – Is should pass before continuing to the
next steps
Run swept PIM (SP) = Save this in jpeg format in pre described format
Run distance to PIM (DTP) = Save this in jpeg format in pre described format
Run distance to PIM (DTP) with steel wool place in front of the B14 antenna = Save this in jpeg
format in pre described format
Testing Port 2 of BAND 14
For B14: Connect B14 Port 2 to high port (Jumper) From filter
For B17: Connect B17 Port 2 to low port (Jumper) From filter
Testing Port 3 of BAND 14
For B14: Connect B14 Port 3 to high port (Jumper) From filter
For B17: Connect B17 Port 1 to low port (Jumper) From filter
Testing Port 4 of BAND 14
For B14: Connect B14 Port 4 to high port (Jumper) From filter
For B17: Connect B17 Port 2 to low port (Jumper) From filter

B14 testing:
Go to Low band frequency settings
Testing Port 1 of BAND 17
For B17: Connect B17 Port 1 to low port (Jumper) From filter
For B14: Connect B14 Port 1 to high port (Jumper) From filter
Before performing any test Run noise floor to time view – Is should pass before continuing to the
next steps
Run swept PIM (SP) = Save this in jpeg format in pre described format
Run distance to PIM (DTP) = Save this in jpeg format in pre described format
Run distance to PIM (DTP) with steel wool place in front of the B14 antenna = Save this in jpeg
format in pre described format
Testing Port 2 of BAND 17
For B17: Connect B17 Port 2 to low port (Jumper) From filter
For B14: Connect B14 Port 2 to high port (Jumper) From filter
PIM Hunting:
Determine worst Port from the m-pilots of B14 and B17 in all sectors. Start the PIM Mitigation from that
port
Example: BETA B17 P2 is the worst port

Go to Low band frequency settings

Make sure temperature difference between Calibration (Cal) and Present (now) is 5 degrees or
less than 5, If it is not need to recalibrate the PIM master follow the above which determined in
the first two pages of this document.
For B17: Connect B17 Port 2 to low port (Jumper) From filter
For B14: Connect B14 Port 2 to high port (Jumper) From filter
Change Time Period to 1000 seconds;
Go to Measurements => Press PIM vs Time => Press Test
Spectrum Analyzer Settings:
Frequency: 704 MHz
Set Marker to M2 to 704 MHz and choose marker M2
Follow the usual procedure of hunting for the PIM sources.
After hunting the PIM sources; Note and save all of them in the spectrum analyzer in pre
described naming format.
First step: Clear the first biggest PIM source, and Run SP and DTP save them with pre described
naming format.
Example naming format:
Siteid – Sector –Testing Antenna Band – PIM source Name – Port Number – Test name
1) NYL01177–A –B17–B14 Bracket–P1–SP
2) NYL01177–A –B17–B14 Bracket–P1– DTP
3)NYL01177–A –B17–Radio Unistrut–P1– SP
4)NYL01177–A –B17–Radio Unistrut–P1– DTP

Second step: Clear the first next PIM source, and Run SP and DTP save them with pre described
naming format. And follow this for every PIM source.
Follow this procedure unitil you clear all the PIM sources which you did find or unitil you
reached the desired results (108 dBm or 118 dBm depends on the markets)
And follow the same ABOVE procedure for B14 Follow this procedure unitil
you clear all the PIM sources which you did find or unitil you reached the desired results (108
dBm or 118 dBm depends on the markets)

Pre measurements:
Make sure temperature difference between Calibration (Cal) and Present (now) is 5 degrees or
less than 5, If it is not need to recalibrate the PIM master follow the above which determined in
the first two pages of this document.
Don’t forget clean the jumpers and ports before you save all the final measurements.
Finally save the post measurements Exactly same as Pre-Measurements (follow the same steps as
pre measurements except steel wool measurements)

Calibrations Connections –procedure 2

Two more types of connections for calibration are there, BUT preferred procedure is above in
first page
Step 1 Connections:
PIM master => PIM standard => Jumper => Filter =>2 Jumpers (one to high port, one to low port) =>
PIM termination to high port jumper, PIM termination to low port jumper
Step 2 Connections:
PIM master => Jumper => Filter => 2 Jumpers (one to high port, one to low port) => PIM termination to
high port jumper, PIM termination to low port jumper
Step 3 Connections:
PIM master => Nothing connected to port
Follow this procedure for both high and low bands

Calibrations Connections –procedure 3

Two more types of connections for calibration are there, BUT preferred procedure is above in
first page
Step 1 Connections:
PIM master => PIM standard => PIM Termination
Step 2 Connections:
PIM master => PIM termination
Step 3 Connections:
PIM master => Nothing connected to port
Follow this procedure for both high and low bands
