e nvironmental s tandards are not improving s ati s f ac tor ily - (espec i ally in
developing countries).

Thus, the initiatory group for t he co nfe re n~e ( lJe panme nt of Ar chitectur al
Design Methods, Faculty of Archi tecture , !TO) decide d that i nves tigation of
interrelations among theory , resea rch and pr acti ce can be e ffect ive in improv-
ing the pe r formence of architectura l desi5Jn acti v'ities. oqs accept ed the
offered theme and prepe r ations for the confe rence commenced . Its main pur-
pose is to provide a communica t ion for the pract i ciny des igne rs as well as
researpiers and educators for prese nting and di scuss i ng recent pr oblems and
_progress in their respective fields.
