To whom it may concern:

It is my pleasure to submit this letter of recommendation on behalf of Ashley Maynard who is

completing her internship and will be graduating in May 2022, from our Masters in School
Psychology Graduate Program at Roberts Wesleyan College. I have known Ashley for over two
years as her professor in five graduate courses (PSY 520 -Psychological Measurement, PSY 540 -
Cognitive Affective Bases of Behavior, PSY 621 -Social Emotional/Personality Assessment, PSY
655 -Consultation for Prevention and Intervention, and PSY 734 – Play Therapy). It has been a
pleasure to get to know Ashley and see the professional growth in her over the course of her
time at Roberts.

Ashley is an exceptional student. Before I have even seen her work, I always know what to
expect from her as she consistently produces high quality assignments. Her attention to detail
and emphasis on academic excellence shines through all she does. Ashley is an independent
learner, who takes initiative, participates in class discussions, and comes into class prepared.
She has always met deadlines for assignments with seeming ease, navigating the multiples roles
and responsibilities of a graduate student with efficiency. Furthermore, throughout her graduate
education she has continued to maintain her role as a field hockey coach – which is evidence of
her skills in time management, devotion to supporting students in a variety of contexts, and her
leadership skills.

Socially, Ashley demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. She is well-liked among her cohort,
and has developed collaborative and positive relationships with both faculty and peers. She
helps others feel comfortable around her, while facilitating meaningful interactions and effective
problem solving. Ashley furthermore works well in groups, as others see her input and
contributions as valuable and meaningful. Her background in inclusive childhood education and
teaching experience have given her unique insights into school culture and the challenges facing
schools. She also easily connects with teachers because of these experiences. Ashley will
undoubtedly become an effective, valuable, and well-liked member of your school
interdisciplinary team.

One thing that I have especially loved about Ashley is that she wonderfully combines academic
excellence with passion. She demonstrates this through the quality of her work and her
investment in the schools with which she has had professional experiences. She has especially
enjoyed the consultation role and is an effective collaborator with other school professionals,
utilizing excellent problem-solving skills to support teachers with their academic and behavioral
goals for students. Ashley has also gained experience on Multi-Tiered System Support teams,
having a role on both academic (RTI) teams and social/behavioral (PBIS) teams. This puts her in
a unique position to be an effective contributor to any school’s multidisciplinary problem-
solving teams.

Ashley developed a strong foundation of counseling skills at Roberts for working with children
and adolescents of all ages. In her internship, she has actively maintained an individual and
group counseling case load, as well as engagement with behavioral and emotional crisis
interventions. She furthermore has earned a certificate from the Crisis Prevention
Institute (CPI) in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
Finally, Ashley demonstrates herself to be an excellent assessment administrator and report
writer. She synthesizes multiple facets of a psychoeducational assessment, and shares the
results in a cohesive and meaningful way. She provides thoughtful and practical
recommendations that are uniquely tied to the strengths and weaknesses of the student
evaluated. She is a strong communicator both orally and in her written work. I believe she will
be a respected contributor to the field of school psychology for many years.

I strongly endorse Ashley and give her my highest recommendation. I believe she has excellent
qualities that will lead her to have a positive impact within a school system. She is very well
prepared for the field of school psychology, and she will quickly become an integral part of any
school. Should you wish to speak with me further, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me at
your convenience (585.594.6283; claes_bethany@roberts.edu).

Sincerely,

Bethany Claes, PsyD
