PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN

1. Telpro (Speedometer)

Organization Autometers Alliance Ltd.

Description This is a Tachograph System for Energy, Distance, Speed, Time

Display and recording of different events during action. This is
basically like a black box of a locomotive that records different
parameters of the locomotives. There are 12 variants of Telpro.
This recorded data is present in two types of memory, internal
memory (Flash memory) and External memory (CF card). This
data is being extracted and checked after every run of the
locomotives. This system is based on embedded micro processor
by Intel – i386 processor and processor by ALTERA – Cyclone II.
The recording is done at regular interval. Different memory block-
Long, short, error etc are recorded as per RDSO specification.

2. Fire Detector Equipment (FDE)

Organization Autometers Alliance Ltd.

Description It is a Microcontroller based system used to detect smoke arising

due to smoldering fires and flaming fires. The system consists of
Visual indications for Operation, Alarm, Fault/Malfunction. When
smoke enters in the scattering chamber of smoke detector, it
scatters the light which reaches the receiver and hence
generating current output from smoke sensors.

3. Vigilance Control Device (VCD)

Organization Autometers Alliance Ltd.

Description Vigilance Control Device (VCD) that supervises the alertness of
the driving crew during train movement. This Device can be
installed in Diesel and Electric locomotives/EMUs as a stand
alone unit.

4. Driver Display Unit (DDU)

Organization Autometers Alliance Ltd.

Description The Driver Display Unit (DDU) is a man machine interface device
able to communicate with locomotive control system through
MVB. It Made as a panel mount equipment with LED backlit 10.4”
LCD screen provides better readability even during daylight
conditions, thanks to brightness control. Various fault messages
and system generated prompts are displayed on screen. The
DDU has various pre-defined screens which can be used for
investigative monitoring.

5. Diagnostic Terminal

Organization Autometers Alliance Ltd.

Description The Diagnostic Display Terminal itself generates scan codes

which are sent to the Host every time a key is pressed or
released (MAKE and BRAKE-codes). The communication
between Host and Diagnostic Display Terminal is realized by a
serial link: either RS422 (standard), or RS485. The I/O-signals for
RS422 and RS485 are electrically isolated.

6. Active Speed Sensor (ASS)

Organization Autometers Alliance Ltd.

Description Active Speed sensor provides two independent galvanically

isolated output signals, it also identifies the direction of rotation of
traction motor, in one direction polarity of output signal remains
positive and in other direction it becomes negative. Active speed
sensor is suitable for Traction Motors of WAG9, WAP5, & WAP7
type Electric Locomotives. Active speed sensor works on Hall
Effect principle, for this hall sensor ICs and permanent magnet is
used to generate the output speed pulses corresponding to the
RPM of traction motor.

7. Loco Surveillance and Wireless Data Transfer System

Organization Autometers Alliance Ltd.

Description It is a Microprocessor based system used to monitor, record and

transmit the various parameters in a locomotive such as Energy
consumption, speed, time, distance, location etc. using wireless
technology and internet.

8. Driver Vigilance Telemetric Control System (DVTCS)

Organization Autometers Alliance Ltd.

Description DVTCS is intended for continuous physiological state monitoring of an engine

driver and for preventing of his change over from alertness to the state of

psycho-physiological relaxation or to a dozing stage of sleep. As well as for

issuing a command for operating final-control devices in case of lack of

restoration of the active operational status, faint, or death.

9. Event Recorder

Organization Autometers Alliance Ltd.

Description It is a microprocessor based Event Recorder for GT46MAC type

diesel electric locomotives for recording parameters like date,
speed, time, brake cylinder pressure etc.

10. Digital Concepts

Organization HCL Technology Ltd.

Description Insight into the Electronic Transactions, Hardware Concepts,
Software Concepts.

11. Data Transmission through Optical Fiber and Laser

Organization Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad.

Description This project deals with transmission of two types of data. One is
analog data and second is digital data. This transmission is done
through laser torch.
