The following data shows the distribution of CoVid-19 infections in a certain region.

Infection Status
Location
Positive Negative
Urban 438 515
Rural 390 451

1. Determine the odds of contracting the disease (interpret).

a. Urban
438
𝑝̂ = = 0.46
953

b. Rural
390
𝑝̂ = = 0.46
841

Therefore, there are 46% chance of contacting disease for people in both
rural and urban areas

2. What is the odds ratio of contracting the disease? Explain.

p=0.46; q=1-p =0.54

Odds of contracting the disease:

𝑝 0.46 0.85
Odds= 𝑞 = 0.54 = 0.85 ≈ 1

-An approximately of 0.85 to 1 or 85% are the odds of people who lives in
a urban or rural areas are concluded to contract the disease.

3. Determine if Location is a factor of contracting the disease. Find the values of

the following and interpret the results.

a. Odds(positive|urban)
