Background of the Study

Social media is an online platform that people use to build social networks or relationships with

others who share personal or professional interests, activities, backgrounds, or real

connections. Social media takes many forms, including blogs, micro blogs, wikis, social

networking sites, photo sharing sites, instant messaging sites,video sharing sites, pod casts,

widgets, virtual worlds, and more. Billions of people around the world use social media to share

information and connect.Today,social networks have become an integral part of our online life

as the number of social sites and applications grows. It is now one of the main reasons

companies use social media to attract customers. People using social media to like, comment

on, and express their opinions on products or services. The power of the Internet over the past

few years has provided many opportunities around the world for business owners to make their

products and services more accessible to the general public. When people saw the potential of

the Internet, a new approach was developed and businesses started creating websites that

could connect with their customers on the Internet.Acquiring social media accounts such as

Facebook, Instagram , Twitter, blog sites and various corporate websites is the latest trend in

the market, despite the marketing risks it may pose. Social media technology adoption of is

accelerating and can be expected to have a similar impact on now and future businesses.As

new technologies became available, businesses that learn to use new technologies gain great

benefit time,Social media marketing can be defined as the methods and means by which

marketers use various social media platforms to process information about customer behavior

and gain insights about customer likes and preferences. Social media marketing is the use of
social media platforms and websites to promote a product or service. It is a new phenomenon

that has changed how the business environment operates and helps businesses gain access to

resources that were otherwise not available to them (Jagongo, A. et. al, 2013). Social Media

Marketing is the hottest new marketing concept and every business owner wants to know how

social media can generate value for their business. People are social by nature and

collect or share information that is important to them. Social media marketing is about

understanding how technology is making it easier for people to connect socially with their social

networks. People also share their feelings about the products with their friends, family, and

colleagues, and more customers and clients are engaged as a result. The company's ultimate

goal has been met.Social Media is used to market products, promote brands, connect with

current customers, and foster new business. Social media analytics is the process by which a

company makes business decisions based on data from blogs and social media.Social

networking can help a company's brand exposure and customer reach. Using social media

optimization (SMO), a website can attract new and unique visitors. Social media platforms

enable businesses to stay in touch with their customers and conduct research that can be used

to improve business processes and operations.The utilization of online networking as a

marketing tool enables organizations to blend with kindred experts in the field, associated with

the group and get business openings with convenience as mentioned by Smith and Taylor

(2004); and directly find online information about marketing and advertising techniques that are

presently used by business owners. Generally, Social media is a useful tool for businesses in
