1) What is the title of the research or article?

(Thesis, Dissertation or an online article)

- I found an online article that entitled “Cautious and gradual reopening of limited face-to-face classes in
the Philippine tertiary schools”

2) Is it an example of a Basic Research or an Applied Research? Describe what makes it a Basic or Applied Research.
- It is an example of a basic research since it is a descriptive type of online article that presents how the
reopening of face-to-face classes will going to be implemented and what will be the cautious ways to
avoid spreading of COVID-19 virus as the reopening classes to some chosen courses will going to start.

3) What is the issue, problem or topic discussed in that research or article?

- The issue or topic discussed in the article is about the necessity of reopening of face-to-face classes on
the medical and health related courses in tertiary level amidst the threat of coronavirus disease. It was
discussed then the preparation on how to combat the coronavirus in doing and following the proper
health protocols. CHED’s role had been highlighted in the article since they’re making the regulation for
the tertiary level and may order suspension for those who will violate the said protocols.

4) What are the methods used?

- Methods used for this online article are observational method and survey.

5) What are your thoughts, insights, observations about the research article?
- The focus of the article that I found online were students in tertiary level aimed to go back face-to-face
classes, and as a student also who can relate to this kind of research article, I am also hoping that they
will give attention to this article and even on other researches about this topic, learning online is a bit
struggle since there are factors that may affect your focus and study, unlike having face-to-face classes.
Something popped up in to my mind as I am reading this article and think about, they are letting
religious institution to have mass from time to time, malls are even open everyday but why they don’t
allow students to be back to universities and colleges to develop more knowledge and enhance their
skills to become better leaders of this country specially in this time like this, facing crisis where we don’t
know when it will end. One thing I’ve noticed, they may allow reopening of classes to medical field and
health related courses, how about other courses that also wants to have face-to-face classes? Like if the
institution may only allow, there are different ways to have a successful reopening of face-to-face
classes despite of pandemic, we can have asynchronous actual meetings and other ways. But overall,
hoping that we students, can come back to our reality classes to learn and share our knowledge and
skills soon.
