1. Joint Statement Between China and the Philippines on the


Framework of Bilateral Cooperation in the Twenty-First Century
THE TIES:

-On June 9, 1975, diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China were established. Since then,
the two countries’ bilateral partnership has achieved unparalleled heights in terms of political/security
and regional cooperation, commerce, investment, agricultural, tourism, cultural and people-to-people
interactions, all of which have benefited the two countries and peoples. As partners in the Asia-Pacific
region’s peace and prosperity, the two countries have worked closely on a variety of regional and
international problems that have a significant impact on the region’s stability and economic
development.

Bilateral relations between the Philippines and China have become stronger during the last 40 years.
Since 1975, the two countries have signed nearly 100 bilateral agreements spanning a wide range of
topics, including political, defence, trade and investment, judicial cooperation, infrastructure
development, energy cooperation, air services, cooperation in combating transnational crimes, consular
cooperation, tourism, culture, sports, media exchange, agriculture, science and technology, sister cities,
and people-to-people exchanges.

IMPORTANCE:

Both parties pledge to respect each other’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.. The
importance of this commitment is to maintain both countries cooperation in terms of struggles and
difficulties face each country and to understand and protect the rights and belongs to each country.

STATUS:

As of now the relationship between China and the Philippines have grown every year, especially in terms
of economic which increase times more than the last years past. China has invested several billion
dollars in Philippine railways and other projects, as well as assisting the country in its search for
undersea oil, sending COVID-19 vaccines and donating arms to fight Muslim rebels who attack
government positions on the archipelago’s southernmost islands on a regular basis.

2. RUSSIA AND THE PHILIPPINES BILATERAL RELATIONS

THE TIES:
For Russia in the Asia Pacific area, the Philippines is a key and prospective partner. Russia is willing to
expand bilateral ties based on mutual respect for sovereignty and independence, as well as non-
interference in domestic matters. The ties is active in terms of technologies, maritime weapons, military
weapons, space research, economic, agricultural trade, and ministry in terms of emergency.

IMPORTANCE:

Philippine government has decided to impose new requirements on the direct hiring of Filipino
housekeepers and nannies in Russia in order to ensure their well-being by placing them in qualified
households and ensuring the engagement of only competent staff.

STATUS:

including trade, defense, and security.

3. PHILIPPINES AS A MEMBER OF UNITED NATION (MULTILATERAL RELATIONS)

The basic goals of the United Nations are to maintain international peace and security, to
promote the well-being of the world’s peoples, and to achieve these goals via international
collaboration.
Relations between United Nation (UN) or the cooperation with the UN is one of the pillars of
our foreign policy, which we are obligated to support the UN. For instance, we all know that
Philippines is very much an active participant upon human rights cooperation concepts, we the
Philippines have contributed to human right, we Philippine have agreements numerous UN
human rights declarations and the treaties.
Being engaged in the United Nations protects and supports the goal and project of one country
specifically in terms of humanitarian reasons. Also, it is serve as a political forum for discussion
of significant topics on the global economic agenda, as well as an integrator of many
perspectives on the economic, social, and environmental pillars of sustainable development.

STATUS:

POLICE AND MILITARY ASSISTANCE TO PEACEKEEPERS:


In terms of peace support troop contribution and cooperation, Philippines is one of the most
active countries in the Asia-Pacific, ranking fourth among the ASEAN members and 60 th globally.
For example, the Philippines has provided over 30 police officers, numbers of military specialist,
and over 130 troops to UN peacekeepers on 2014. The Philippine military experts are sent to
the UN military observer group in India and Pakistan, while the numbers of police officers and
troop are deployed to the UN stabilization mission in Haiti.
Meanwhile, the recent dispute between China and the Philippines for West Philippines sea
(south China sea) issue, the arbitral tribunal maintained the United Nations Convention on the
Law of the Sea which gives the countries exclusive rights to use the oceans within 200 nautical
miles in any way they see it fits.

UN COOPERATION TO THE PHILIPPINES:


The UN support and assist the government of the Philippines in terms of important
development, maintaining peacebuilding, and humanitarian purposes.

Food and Agriculture Association:


As a knowledge organization, FAO creates and shares critical information about food, agriculture and
