Opinion Essay

Write a 5-paragraph opinion essay about one of the following topics:

 Should video games be considered harmless or harmful?
 Have the authorities managed the Coronavirus Pandemic well or not?

Writing Process:
1. First, you will write an outline using the format below (Week 5).
2. Next, you will write a rough draft (Weeks 6-7).
3. Finally, you will edit the rough draft and turn in a final draft (Week 8).

For your Rough Draft and Final Draft:

 You must state your opinion very clearly in the thesis statement. Example, “In my opinion, ….”
 Each of the three supporting paragraphs should give one clear reason that supports your opinion.
 Each paragraph must be 6-12 sentences long, and your essay must be at least 2 full pages long (double-
spaced).
 You must use at least one linking/transition word or phrase in every paragraph.
 Do not use outside research without citations, this is considered plagiarism. I am looking for your
opinion based on general information that you already know about the topic. You can use first person to
talk about your ideas and experiences.

I will not accept any drafts that are not in the correct format.

For the rough draft and final draft, you must use the correct format for all writing assignments.

 Double- spaced, Times New Romans font, size 12, 2.5cm margins, page numbers at the bottom right
corner
 5 paragraphs (indent the first sentence in each paragraph)
 Minimum of 6 sentences per paragraph and 2 full pages long
 Use at least 1 transition in each paragraph
 Correct essay structure (title, introduction with hook and thesis, 3 supporting paragraphs, conclusion
with restatement of thesis and final recommendation)
