SYNOPSIS

The project entitled as “Online Course Registration System”. This project is a web based
application developed in PHP and MySQL as backend which can be used by all the people to use
it at any time from any place.

Online Course Registration System is aimed at developing an online Course registration

application for a college. This system is an online system that can be accessed throughout the
organization and outside as well with proper login provided. Our system has two type of
accessing modes, administrator and user. Student management system is managed by an
administrator. It is the job of the administrator to admit and monitor the whole process. When a
user log in to the system. He would only view details of the student. He can't perform any
changes .The system has two modules. They are

 User
 Administrator
Students logging is to apply for the Course by filling an application form provided by online.
College principal/administrator logging in may also access/search information put up by the
students.

1.INTRODUCTION:

The main objective for developping this project is to providing easier registration to
online course.Every year students has to feel the burden of standing in a long queue, waiting all
day just to submit their form, unsure even if they will get admission in that college or not. Well
not this time, Online College Registration System has reduced that burden to 0%.It can help for
the student needs to register by giving the necessary details for the desired course and should
also mentain the mode of payment for the course if registration is done successfully,the student
can avail the course.the couse is concernted with the process of choosing and joining the course
in equcational institution. Now students can submit their form online from their home or cyber
cafe without standing or waiting in a long queue. There are lots of benefits of going online rather
than the traditional method. The actions are quick and prompt which saves your time and efforts.
Even the college management has the student application data in a structured format so they can
sort and filter data in a matter or just seconds. This enhances the overall process.

The purpose of this document is to analyze and elaborate on the high-level needs of the
Online College Registration System. It focuses on the capabilities and facilities provided by a
college.

1.1.problem definition:

As project developers we developed a new course registration system to replace the

existing manual registration since manual system are prone to errors and take more time.
The system made by user friendly and reduce the burden of users. Our system can be
made available even in the website of our college.

Students can easily register the course in our system without any difficulty and can easily
understand and also time taken for registration is less when compared to manual registration.
Your information will be stored as soon as you registered.

2.SYSTEM ANALYSIS:

2.1.Existing System

Today in colleges student details are entered manually. The student details in separate
records are tedious task. Referring to all these records and updating is needed. There is a chance
for more manual errors.
Disadvantages
 When the student comes in college.
 First of all, he/she takes registration form from reception.
 Fills it and submits it into office.
 Filled form is first checked with documents like merit list an details came from university
and verified by an official person , if there is any mistake then it is corrected.
 At the time of submission of it the fees is deposited by the candidate.
 At the time of submission of registration form registration no. is assigned to the candidate
by the institute.
  Candidate gets the receipt of fees deposition
 Require much man power i.e. much efforts, much cost and hard to operate and maintain.
 Since, all the work is done in papers so it is very hard to locate a particular
 student record when it is required.

2.2.Proposed System

The main goal of the system is to automate the process carried out in the organization
with improved performance and realize the vision of paperless registration. Some of the goals of
the system are listed below:
 Manage large number of student details.
 Manage all details of student who registered for the course
 Create student accounts and maintain the data’s effectively.
 View all the details of the students.
 Reduce the work load in interview the students for selection
 Activities like updating, modification, deletion of records should be easier.

ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM

The aim of the proposed system is to address the limitations of the current system. The
requirements for the system have been gathered from the defects recorded in the past and also
based on the feedback from users of previous metrics tools. Following are the objectives of the
proposed system:
 Reach to geographically scattered students.One of the important objectives of the
registration system is communicate with all the students scattered geographically.
 Reducing time in activities.Reduce the time taken process the applications of students,
admitting a student, conducting the online examination, verify student marks, and send
call letters to selected students.
 Centralized data handling. Transfer the data smoothly to all the departments involved
and handle the data centralized way.
  Paperless registration with reduced manpower. Reduce the manpower needed to perform
all the register and registration task by reducing the paper works needed.
 Cost cutting. Reduce the cost involved in the registration process.
 Operational efficiency. Improve the operational efficiency by improving the quality of
the process.
2.3 project description:

In Online course registration system institute can register to conduct an online admission and
view the academic records later. Students can fill the form and their respective academic records
(softcopy), which helps the registrar to admit the student or reject as per submitted records. No
student can take a particular online registration more than once.

 In this project, we use PHP and  Mysql database. It has two module

1.User Module

2.Admin Module.

User Module:

In this module, there are three Section

1.Dashboard: In this section, user can see the status of his application.
2.Admission Form: In this section, user can fill the form and check his / her application form is
selected or rejected(which is done by admin).
3.Upload Docs: In this section, user can upload own document if his/ her selected by
admin(rejected user cannot upload their document)
A user can also update his/ her profile, change the password and recover the password.
Admin Module
In this module, there are eight sections
1. Dashboard: In this section, admin can see all the detail in brief.
2. Reg Users: In this section, admin can view user detail and update user detail.
3. Admission Application: In this section, admin can view all application. Admin can view
application and documents on the basis of status(pending application, approved an
application and reject application). Admin also can approve pending application.
4. Search Application: In this section, admin can search application on the basis of user name,
email id, and contact number.
5. Course: In this section, admin can manage courses(add and update).
6. Notice: In this section, admin can manage notice(add and update) and anybody see this
notice on the website.
7. Notification: In this section, admin gets the notification if any user applies for admission.
Admin can also update his profile, change the password and recover the password.
